I just got back into playing guitar after a long absence about a year ago. In doing so, I liquidated some of my old gear and bought a Thunderbird after having wanted one for the past 20 years. I've had it for about three months now, and have a racked up a lot of mileage on it already.

I still want a bicentennial edition Thunderbird, but I'm having a lot of fun with my 2013.

I really like the look and color too. I just wasn't sure if it had special anniversary electronics or any thing else drastically different from the IV. It figures I missed the Columbus Day markdown, I'd have bit at that price. Oh well, I'll continue to keep my eyes open for discounts or special deals on the anniversary edition. In the meantime I'll get out there and play every IV I can get my hands on!

My wife bought mine during the Columbus day sale. They are/were also offering 18 months interest free on Gibsons at GC. With the holidays coming up I'm sure you can get it on sale again soon.
Even tho I still haven't had a lot of time to play it (damn work & school are running me ragged right now) I do like it very much. It sounds similar to my 2001 Bird so I agree that the only real difference is the finish and hardware color. Does that make it worth more than a typical TBird? Probably only in the sense that it might be collectable some day because of it being an anniversary model and a "custom" color.

I can finally join this group! Just got this late 70's Greco Thunderbird after years of looking. Has various nicks and scrapes, but it's in great shape! The original owner swapped out the truss cover for a Gibson one wayyy back in the day. This thing absolutely kills! Balances horribly, but hey, I'm 20 so I can deal with it!
