Thunderbird Club Pt.7

Right now, they're not really advertised or even listed on Hipshot's website for purchase. You have to call Hipshot directly to get them and specifically ask for the 'mini-clovers' for a Thunderbird - I was quoted $100 for the complete Ultralite set of 4 tuners w/mini clover keys. But when I called just asking for the keys, not the whole set because I had just bought the HB6C's, the rep was cool about it and sent me the mini clover keys at the homey hook up price. YMMV

Very nice!! Did you order direct from hipshot, or through another online parts thing? Cause i want on stewmac and it said sold seperately. And it's like 30$ so if its just one and not 4 for 30$ it kinda sucks. It would be cool to upgrade my goth's tuners. They work fine, just it would be something different. Obviously id' have black clovers :D

Just finished her moments ago. I custom cut an all black 2mm piece of pickguard material and added a custom cut super thin gold Thunderbird vinyl. I also restrung her with Black Beauties and lowered the bridge about 2mm.

BTW, if anyone needs a Thunderbird vinyl, PM me. I've got'em in black, white, silver and gold.

The 'oversize' cuts are really intriguing, haven't had a chance to compare the new Les Paul Bass with how I remember the 90's LPB's. I'd love to hear more from anyone with a Lull Ament or something custom like Jaibeau's NR. You'll have to let us know how your new NR works out on Saturday.

View attachment 393440here is the finished mike lull non-reverse 5 next to a standard size lull - it's a bigun- get it Friday but get to break it in Saturday-

Speaking of "oversized" Les Paul bass, I have a goldtop in the classifieds "oversized"... But the bigger cuts I think are just an aesthetic thing, at least for me- I'm 6-3 so it just feels nice and girthty. I saw mike talking to the bass player of neon trees at namm, this guy is like 6-4 and at least 200+. Mike told me he's building him ament t-birds now. He takes a bit off the front and back to compensate for the larger footprint, this keeps it at that 9lb point, especially because of the Indian mahogany-

Does Mike also do undersized T-Birds? Not that I'd be able to afford one of his basses, but just curious. I'm about 5'6" and 125 lbs. I'm a runner.

Dude! Of course, his birds are amazing. Go to the site and do some research. He took a lot of time to develop a thunderbird that is more comfortable to play without compromising the classic Tbird look. His pickups also are spot on, another process that he took time to reverse engineer a 60's Tbird humbucker and make his own. I'm not gonna dog Gibson, but once you play his, it's REAL tough strapping a Gibson back on.

Thanks. I did look around his site, but didn't see anything about sizing like that. What I'd want would be way too expensive for me. Left-handed is already a 15% upcharge. And I'd probably have it painted in that old Fender Antigua finish. I love that.

Ha, I'm well under 6 feet tall and mostly torso - if it's more or less just aesthetics, it would be hard to justify the upcharge of having something built.
