Thunderbird Club Pt III

I haven't played my bird for 2 weeks cause of those stupid studs in the body :scowl: I tried restringing it and it popped out again. One last time i'm putting the contact cement on both the stud and in the body. letting both cure for 10 mins then joining them and letting it set for 30 mins. Really can't wait to play it again. sick of playing my pbass all the time. oh well easy come easy go i guess. :crying:

I would use crazy glue or super glue or whatever it's called where you live. I dont recall hearing of anyone having an issue with the inserts after using that stuff. I know contact cement is good for some applications, but it doesn't sound like it is working for this situation. It only costs $1 in most stores so it is a cheap option.

Definitely agree, super glue GEL would work if there was no contact cement stuck to the parts being put together. Clean off all the contact cement first. If you end up scraping a lot of wood out of the holes then use 2 part epoxy.

And look at the various tutorials available for setting up a 3 point...basically keep it as level as possible so you're not putting more stress on the posts than necessary.

Its going for a number of reasons, but none of them are really bad. I dont have a main bass right now and Im just jumping around between my basses. The bird cost a lot more than I had wanted to spend since I was just exploring sounds. I liked the HZ's and tonepump jr in my old bird, love the P/J combo with regular tonepump, but I want to try out EMG 40TWX's with a OBP-3 on another TBird before buying an ESP LTD F-255 and putting in my favorite combo. If everything goes as planned, Ill make a thunderbird constructed like this in the summer

I think we're talking about these two.......
They're both custom, the seafoam green one is an Orville, the 7Up green is an unbroken '76 Gibson, refinned for me by Mike Lull.

I spent some time last night A/B'ing these two. The white Epi wins for sheer low end capability. I thought the roof was going to cave in at one point. The Elitist, however, has a nasty growl that just can't be beat. The white one has a really fat neck, similar to a P-Bass, while the Elitist has an ultra thin neck that makes my Jazz Bass' neck seem massive. As far as neck dive is concerned (both basses have strap buttons in the same spot, where the neck and body meet), the white one balances perfectly. The Elitist tends to dive if you let go. But really, this doesn't bother me at all. Conclusion: both basses rule in their own unique way. And I should've worn earplugs, haha.

That is exactly what Chromium and I will be doing tonite :D We are going to do some test runs/comparisons between my Gibson Bird and my Epi Goth rebuild/project. Also testing out a couple of new brews that neither of us have tried before.

Nice.

I've been thinking about the silverburst Burny, But I think I'm going to hold out until another white one shows up.

Can't wait to hear what you think about it. It's a beautiful bass.
