TBird1958 - thanks for the info. I'm the same or 1" taller than you, so I'm hoping for a good fit. I think I will seriosly consider your chrome bridge cover and chrome [upper]pup cover. That is great look for any genre of music(looks count, right?) or color of instrument....chrome rules!

I love the chrome parts, but they're really hard to find and quite expensive! Bring $$$

Our typical band situations are :
- Good FOH support large venue with everything mic'd (we use IEM's) and moderate stage volume, for me that means feeling the stage move a little and getting the bulk (like 90%) of what I hear as bass in my IEM.

- Smaller venue like a bar with vocals, keys and guitar in the PA, drummer and myself unmic'd, so the band sound checks and sets up to play only as loud as our drummer. My amp is then the only source of bass, and still I don't have to turn it up much (We are always careful to not play too loud, as it drives people away - they get uncomfortable, don't realize why and leave) to fill the room. The other thing about 1001's is that they seem to want LOTS of electricity, I've had mine refuse to start a few times because the venue had dodgy curcuits not rated at 20amps, the 700 shouldn't be quite as fussy about that.

Yeah, I think the 700 will work out better for you - I gigged 'em exclusively for a couple of years, and never had any troubles of any sort with them... They definitely draw less current than the 1001s do, so that *should* cure any start up issues you were having... I typically play large clubs, halls, and outdoors - always with good FOH support, but our stage volumes are pretty loud, too - even considering all that, I usually ran my pre gain @ 10 o'clock, and never went above noon with the Boost and Woofer volume - and it's pretty thumpin' at those settings...

I think the 700rb-II has power that's right in the sweet spot for most rock bassists - although I'm mainly using the Mesa, no way am I getting rid of the 700rb-II, either...

The band has gotten so much better in the past two years with the addition of our new drummer, he is quite honestly very good, this past week we started working up Duran Duran's "Rio" at rehearsal - his playing is so perfect my parts literally fall into place!

It's pretty stupid rare, one of about 60 made in '93-94, played it for half the rehearsal the other night. I got a super deal on it from another TBer $600.00, I actually have no idea what it's worth - What a bass!
I'll hang onto it for now, but thanks for the offer

hey guys and girls,

i want to make my T-bird pro Passive.
but instead of controls i'm going to do it like my epiphone nikki sixx blackbird.

but there's one problem both pickups have got 3 wires.
the one wire thats not connected to anything in the original T-bird PRO is a red one.
what is the red wire for?

IT sounds 10 times better than IT did in active mode.
IT's loud as hell. IT sound more vintage overdriven sound. Like a thunderbird should sound.

Glad i did it. I don't need knobs on bass guitars.
(ownly need knobs on my guitar . This is my guitar, sorry it's not a firebird, it's a gibson lespaul copy yes les Paul NOT SG )
