Kara, the Firebirds also have mini hum buckers. I guess to be different to the Les Paul & SG etc.
What’s there to think about?LOL - I’ll have to think about that one.![]()
A friend of mine got the home version of the B3 (B?) for free on Craigs List (I helped him retrieve it) - the defining sound of the '60s-early '70s.
But the Firebird pickups aren't minihumbuckers either:
Mini Humbucker Versus Firebird Guitar Pickups: What’s the Difference?
I'm fairly young, by wtvr standard that is, however, being around music since i was born (my dad being the musician with all his classic vinyls such as Bowie, T-Rex, Cheap Trick, etc), & even though i first saw the 1974-75 san Francisco KISS live show (on tv) when i was 3-4 years old, when i say Dee Dee Ramone play (through DVD documentary) when i was 6-7, that's who got me into diving into playing bass (& subsequently playing Precisions). His sheer energy was something to behold. After many years of practice from their first album to the Live shows, my wrist has gotten used to the fast downpicking without breaking a sweat or needing to stop after 4 live songs. I'm a punk; in roots, style & music. Other bassists have had some influence on my writing & playing too, but Dee Dee got me into actively playing bass.
I'm mostly a fingerstyle player although I also play with a pick and I was always fascinated and a little jealous at his strength with a pick. TBird1958 is also a very strong pickstyle player, check out her video from a day or two ago (maybe 300 pages back)
Yes it is. Constantly doing that requires more work and is tiring for me. Might look better but not functional for long. Slower songs I might if in the mood. But if I needed speed I definitely did upstroke and downstroke and wasn't worn out by wasting a movement with no effect. It's really difficult to consistently downstroke an entire song, much less a set....I've heard it said the one should be able to upstroke/downstroke with the same intensity/speed...
It's really difficult to consistently downstroke an entire song, much less a set. At one point I was reasonably good for a song or two, I'd have to put some time back into it today because I can't do it like this anymore. I've heard it said the one should be able to upstroke/downstroke with the same intensity/speed etc., I can't get it to sound the same, here I'm flogging the E string hard, it was about 95 degrees and excessively humid this day. Warning, if you like the dull thump of flats this not for you, big, clanky angry piano on a '76.

I’m sure others with more in-depth knowledge of the original Tbird pickups will chime in with good info. All I

yeah, I use downstrokes when I want to alter the rhythmic into a more staccato ostinato and a less pillowy andante…… for some stuff, up/down is the only way….Yes it is. And yet they have the same nameI'm going to get a pic of the 21 NR Burgundy and Inverness Green, next to the Embassy Burgundy, and Wanderlust Green.
I figured out how to use my camera.
First impressions are the Burgundy's are pretty similar, but the Greens are miles and miles apart....

Great tone. Is that straight into the GK?

No, and that innocence is long gone and will never happen again. It's why it can't fully be explained to people who have never experienced this. I sincerely wish it was possible to translate, but some things can only be imagined in retrospect. If one allows themself to be completely open to the 'intent' of music of a specific genre/era... you can at least come close to understanding where it was coming from.
Thanks! At that point we were playing a lot and I was using many different Birds so I used a Line 6 bass Pod live pedal set, it allowed me to set the amp up and leave it alone (other than volume) and create a preset patch for each of my basses. It was quite handy and kept things pretty simple. I could take multiple basses to a show and not worry about their differing outputs, I still have it tho I'm not presently using it around the house.

Thx M.Great playing. And I really like like the vocal on that one.
Humm. I def like the looks of The Claw and the cover as well. When I get super bored and can't find anything to do I might do that.did anyone tell the dude with the IG 21 NR in the classifieds, that the claw he had installed is set too far back?
