Thunderbird Club

I’ve heard that he and his band put on a great show but did so at insane volume levels.

They weren't that bad actually, I've seen local bands way louder, I thought the volume was comfortable, course it was clear as a bell and those guys could all play so that may have had something to do with it. They were loud but not painfully so, let me put it that way. They had all their stuff too.

Ever see them live? Excellent live band, they really rocked. This was (as I'm sure you know) an outlier.

Only the Woodstock film.

I think JPJ played on some of that stuff for Donovan too, he may even be on Hurdy Gurdy Man. I have always liked Donavan.

Me too - I always thought Dylan was sort of a prick in 'Don't Look Back' mocking Donovan.

You know what they say - if ya got a itch, scratch it!

Now there’s a rose between two…. Roses. But why not one Ebony (in place of a white one) for the trifecta?

Pre 2000 birds seem much harder to come by (maybe fewer made?) and the one I played did play and sound even better than my 2012 bird. Possibly different pups or better wood or different neck geometry, but it felt and sounded different in a better way. I’d pay up to $2000 for one if I were in the market (about a $500 premium over a standard post 2000 model). JMHO YMMV
I have a ebony '76 I supose is the answer, besides Martin Turner, Overend Watts nor Entwhistle played a ebony bird. ;)

Thanks. I appreciate learning something new. That's two things today! Did you know that Kermit the Frog used to be a back up singer for KISS? But I'm not really sure about that one.

2018 LE Gibson, one of my PAF lousy, dark, out of focus cell phone photos, Lull pickups.

Yes, the NR necks are very substantial, much bigger than my 2018 reverse, they play really nice though, I think probably the 12" radius and having been pleked has a lot to do with that.
Doesn't always help, I've been pleked a few times while playing years ago and it didn't help much. Oh, you mean the neck....

Hi everyone! New Burgundy Bird here!
Nice to meet an active group of TB bassists, wish you have a great day, I’m coming from Fender and Modulus looking for another animal of tone, im in love with this bass, the looks, and I did not get the ear yet in the perfect tone, but I changed the factory strings for a DR pure Blues with 3 months of use, and im down for this setup!
Some pics from yesterday! Cheers!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've been busy the last couple of days building myself this cigar box guitar, which I actually started work on 28 years ago.

I had this very badly bent neck which I de-fretted that I put on there, so I can get my Seasick Steve vibes going.

I just recorded a song using that silly thing and here it is.
