Thunderbird Club

Is it confession day?

I hadn't played my 5 string thunderbird for several weeks. I just haven't been happy with the sound I am getting out of it. But, I have been unsatisfied with my Yamaha as well; for different reasons. The Yamaha needs new strings.

With the Thunderbird, I just haven't been satisfied with the sound of the low B string. It just seemed weak and flabby. Separately, I have been looking at amps and cabinets. Looking at the cabinets, there are many that seem to be unable to reproduce a low B. But, in doing my research, I started working through the drop off at the low end and wondering what I can do about it. Well, the light bulb went on, and I got an MXR 10 band graphic EQ [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Interesting that the frequencies are all Bs. starting at 31hz. So, I got around to putting it between bass and practice amp, cranked up the low B to +6db. So, now I am back to loving my 5 string T Bird. And just in time - the Yamaha's new strings arrive next week, I have a new Gibson Midtown that is in desperate need of a set up, so it came down to needing to get happy with the T Bird again.

Back to loving my T Bird.
Which model of Midtown do you get? I haven't ever played one but the Standard model, with the Bigsby, looks like fun. Gibson's description makes it seem like a Swiss Army knife, in terms of tone.

Hell yeah! Why not just get it yourself, and lend it to the nephew - Then, if he gets tired of it you get it back, and if he decides to keep it he can buy it from you... :)

Aha, my statement earlier in the year when I got the Goth that I wouldn't get another bass this year... ;)

Plus I actually need to spend some money in the amp or cab / mixer arena.

Plan b: suggest that this would be a great Christmas or Birthday (January) present. :) that way I'm not buying it.

Plan C: assist Nephew if he is a little short, or buy the case off him, or something. :)

Had a little project a year or so ago and we did this tune... a good one!

Here's Sadie, our 16 year-old rescue cat. This is about 2 years old, she's gotten a little thinner with a thyroid condition, but she still goes out and tries to bring mice and voles into the house. Had to rescue a rabbit from her once. Still a badass, and still my little schnookums.

Pretty girl... Appaears to have the exact same colouring that my dear Duchess had, who sadly passed away 3 months ago... :(

Similar look alright... similar build as well! Reminds me of my Sadie right away. Good looking kitty, looks as if she was well loved and at home. Nice.

She was very devoted and well loved, but got really sick at the end and suffered a stroke and renal failure... We did everything, trying to make her feel better, but eventually had to let her go... Still miss her, but fortunately have several other kitties that needs our attention. :)

Sorry about it Michael, tough when your booger gets sick. Ours has that thyroid business, we just keep after it. She's very thin now, but used to be a total pear shape! Still active though, luckily. Well miss her when she has to leave us, I know that.

Ours had quite the pear shape as well... But after the stroke she kinda lost interest in food (was her biggest interest before the stroke) and started going round in circles compulsively, and it would take her several turns before she eventually "hit" the food bowl with weightloss to follow. And when the renal failure sat in, it was only going one way fast: Lack of appetite due to nausea (we suppose) and even more weightloss - At the end she hardly ate, despite all our efforts to served her all kind of treats...

Enjoy your kitty as long as you can... ;)

I appreciate her with new enthusiasm every day. It occurs to me often that she's been with us so long- been a meaningful part of our life almost as long we've been a family. So when she breaks our hearts, we'll know she had them while she was here.
Thanks for the good words bro. And my heart goes out to you guys...
