Thunderbird Club

Those were the beginning of the Andy Fields designs. They were ahead of the times. Fender was so scared of the competition that they bought Jeff out and closed production. Andy is now the brains behind Mesa. And Genzler re-emerged with his highly regarded Genzler heads and cabs. Andy still services the Genz Benz amps as a side job to his Mesa gig.

My late '90s Mesa/Boogie Bass M-2000 was ahead of its time - two amps in one; tube & FET split right down the middle. More knobs than I generally gravitate to, but once dialed-in a very dynamically versatile 650w amp. I bought it used with issues and live close enough to Petaluma (MB headquarters) to drop it off for the needed repairs. Once done (years ago) - flawless service at our rehearsal space where it drives a Carvin 18" ported cab.

Are those yours? I've never tried an MTI head. My skunkworks head had the same general look though except for the overhang on top.

It started when McCartney sold the Lennon-McCartney catalog to Michael Jackson. Nothing was sacred anymore. At least McCartney bought them back; that’d why we didn’t end up with Deprnds commercials using When I’m Sixty-Four.

What the actual shag, more than one picture? How can we decide if we want to buy without just a single grainy picture?
Are you looking at the right link? There’s several detailed pics. All white CP looks to be in very good condition. These are the closest you can get to a modern Gibson Tbird (neck thru, same pups as the Gibby) at a fraction of the price. IMHO it’s the best modern sounding Eppi made, VP is the best vintage sounding Eppi. These are usually priced about the same as a VP, so this is quite a bargain.

Those are said to be a/thee Fender amp to get - I attempted for years to get one but I can't imagine it being better than my Ampeg B15 so I stopped looking. Would love to play through one someday.

McCartney didn't sell them, I think Northern songs still owned them at the time (not sure though), Yoko and Paul partnered up to buy them back or something like that and Michael Jackson swooped in and bought them behind their backs, they were not happy.

Yes, MJ bought them while PMac was trying to get them. It caused a falling out between them. Evidently MJ had asked Paul for advice and he told him to get ownership of your songs… “maybe I’ll buy yours… giggle giggle” then it was no laughing matter

That's right  I even saw him on a show where he imitated Jackson telling him he had bought them or something.

I've never tried one, I do like Fenders though, got a couple in my space, I even briefly considered buying a Super Bassman but I already have way too much stuff.

Yeah, but which one's still breathing.:smug:

PM finally got them back about 4 or 5 years ago, I'm not sure who owned them before but you could barely find any Beatles on YouTube until McCartney got them back. I think that's really stupid keeping your songs off YouTube, I always check with YouTube before I buy an album by someone I not not real familiar with and I bet a lot of other people do too. The Hendrix estate keep all his stuff off and the kids are forgetting about him. His sales haven't kept up with other big stars from that era.
