I'm pretty sure you're right. I think they figured the name is more descriptive.Aa, Ok. I bet there's no difference but don't quote me on that. Somebody here must have both.

Wish my wife paid that for the white one.... But it is an oddity.A pretty good price on a Bicentennial…
Gibson Thunderbird SB 1976 Free Shipping From Japan | eBay
in Japan but free shipping and a case. I’m no Bicentennial expert but I assume it’s all original and legit. Looks to be in pretty good shape as well.
I drove 18 wheelers for 23 years(84-07), while still playing in bands on weekends(good driving schedule). Whenever anyone would 'light up', I hadda leave to avoid second hand "smoke".
Man - what a great solo/player! I had to listen to it a few times just to get it all in!Thanks for posting!
my original point exactly….an SVT won”t do this…

I had actually meant to post this video from Rick Beato which included the solo from that, he was amazing, died young. He played with three fingers later on instead of just reinforcing his pointer finger with his middle like most do. Legend has it that he also played a Thunderbird.........once
phenomenal musicianWhile the VP is about as close as you can get sound wise any where near that price, they do not sound identical. VPs are very well made and intonation is better. (If only in lacquer!) The neck is a few mm larger. The neck on the 60s and my '06 feel the same to me. In fact, the '06 plays and feels as good as the '64, just doesn't sound like a Thunderbird from the 60s. The VP gets there. Just not as big and magical sounding, but there is something about the mids that seems more correct than even the new NR. The PUP placement it a huge part of the magic and is why the VPs sound as good as they do--with the right string. Even my '64 doesn't sound great with anything. If I could have only one bass, and it couldn't be the '64, it would be one of the VPs. That's just me. The white one seems a little more aggressive, so like any bass, they are not identical.

So the hauling association/regulatory authority (or whatever)would regularly test for pot?

Other than the '64 having that wonderful worn feel, my '06 feels almost identical. A little more heavy, but not much.Of all my Birds the '89 is closest to the '64 when it comes to the neck, Lull pickups sound very close to the originals now that I can make the direct comparison.
Sure, brag about seeing it and blame me at the same time why don't you!I see it, it must be something with your computer but I'm no expert.

The company(s) I drove for would do random tests. You also may get tested during a DOT physical. So the hauling association/regulatory authority (or whatever)would regularly test for pot?
