Thunderbird Club

JEEZ! friggin' gorgeous..:hyper:
the single coils look like early P but are the other pups Rickenbacker? bet that thing sounds/plays beautiful...

Insanely friggin heavy ash, and purpleheart neck too…

but it plays and sounds so awesome I just have to tolerate it…

I love slab sided instruments but I had to add a belly and forearm cut to try to slim it down. Didn’t help much. I think I got it to 9.7tons or so.

got a jazz too but I’m going to part it out, and switch the pickups to my reverse 7enderBird.

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:
Vignale (Italian coach builder) at their best…….intentionally intended to compete with that very DeTomaso model…..prettier, faster (same 390 as in the original AMX) but also way more expensive to produce…..shame….oh well, cheer up…..;)

confirmed collector?

In the 70’s Sydney media they used to talk about “confirmed bachelors” and “colourful racing identities”. :D
Probably not the same.

I've heard and comprehend “confirmed bachelors”... but “colourful racing identities” ??? Horse racing? GP racing? F1 racing? (the mind... races)

The whole Miles "Kind of Blue" album is really good, I think a lot of them were into it, one of them (Duane?) said it influenced their long jams.

Another big cross-pollinator was Bill Graham. He would book the top rock/pop/folk/jazz acts on the same night. There's a funny story about The Grateful Dead having Miles open for them at the Fillmore. (!!!) They didn't want to go on after Miles performed - and I don't blame them. Kind of Blue was the pinnacle of "modern" Jazz at that point. To most Jazz advocates - it's probably considered one of the most influential LP's of all time.

And then Miles pioneered Acid-Jazz (not the inappropriately named '90s Acid Jazz...) ... I mean - Mohammad Ali meets Jimi Hendrix meets Miles meets James Brown meets Tim Bogert and the Vanilla Fudge/Cactus Acid Jazz!

Kick-Äss Jazz.

great pic!

Tim Bogert, one of my heroes since I first heard Vanilla fudge in 1967, he was a monster, also Carmine Appice from Vanilla Fudge, one of my favorite rhythm sections. Check out Cactus too.

I think Tim and Carmine were 'appreciated' by many bass-players & drummers of our era. Balls-to-the-walls Rock&Rollers. :bassist:

Only if you finish your dinner and wash behind your ears.

Oh, you mean “Paul Revere and the Raiders of the lost Art”.

:) A fave was the "Brian Jonestown Massacre", but "The Dead Kenny G's" is my all time favorite.

Some new band with up and comers?

:D
That has to be one of the best albums ever. I liked Beck's playing much better back then. His later solos are a little too out there for me and don't particularly sound very musical at times. I don't know how Bogert and Appice aren't as famous as Beck. I know there's that whole star with guitar thing going on, but those guys are every bit the players Beck was. I would even rank Bogert above Beck. (Heresy to some I know.) He plays such unexpected parts that just fit perfectly and....and don't sound like he's trying to play unexpected parts to stand out as unexpected parts, if that makes sense. He makes me want to play bass and give up at the same time.
