Thunderbird Club

Yup one the Best Covers EVER!!
Speaking of "Singing Bass Players" I think it's interesting to note that Tim Bogert was in the original lineup along with Carmine Appice!!
Could explain the "Slam Factor" in That one :bassist:

They all grew up together on Long Island, he was the bassist until they broke up. When I was a kid they changed everything for a lot of local bands.

Gotta love Keith Moon. His drumming is nuts and he looks nuts doing it. There's a reason for that. Of course, the fact that it was all fake means he could be really goofy.

It sounded live to me once they got passed the beginning unless he just happened to hit too hard when he wasn't supposed to  as the vocals were live.
I think they're playing live to a recording now that I listening again. Probably recorded sometime before the show.

Looking for a experienced advise. I have to change the pups on my 18 gibson t bird. Its just too damb muddy, even compared to my 13.

I do not want to go the thunderbucker route, I like a modern tone. Im not getting crappy China buckers.

I'm looking at emgs. I have emgs pjs in every bass other than my thirds. Maybe the passive ones or the PJ thunderbird pups? I like the idea of staying passive.

Anyone here tried these ?

My first Thunderbird! It came to me post-mod with Lollars, Babicz bridge and Hipshot Ultralights.

I picked it up on a whim. So far, I've gigged with it, playing metal, rock, blues and country. It has delivered in every setting! While maybe not as articulate as my Stingray, and not as fat & warm as my P or J basses, its got voice all its own -a killer mid-growl that really asserts itself in the mix!

2018 LE, Lollars (I put in) and Babicz bridge, even a couple of Fenders amps. Lovely wall paper too.

I have Lulls in mine, same year as yours. I didn't dislike the pickups though just wanted chrome, heard the Queen's sound in a video here and I was sold.

...and The Smothers Brothers, Shindig, Hullabaloo, Where The Action Is, Ready, Steady - Go, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, (the Monkees) and Soul Train. Plus Glen Campbell's show, Jimmy Dean's show, Heh Haw, and Porter Wagner/Dolly Pardon show. I probably missed a couple.

Everly Brothers summer replacement for the Johnny Cash show, 1970. I just had to plug The Everly Brothers.

The Everly Brothers Show - TV - Ike & Tina Turner

Incredible band, listen to as much of their music as you can - Andy Fraser, their bassist was a gifted, insightful player as were all the members of that band. I've posted this video before, but I love this song, Fraser has a great bass solo and gets a lot chords in as well, yet there's so much "air" and groove.

Fraser was a good songwriter too, he wrote Everyday People that Robert Palmer had a big hit with.

 I'm afraid music will never be this good again.
