I would like all ya'll's opinion of the GK Backline amps. Many of us play GK's and I dont understand what differs. Overall do you guys(and gals) like the sound of the Backline series?

Normally I might ask in the amp section but I want to get the opinions of my fellow T-Bird community.
GK amps are great, but the Backline amps I've played through sounded like soggy garbage.

View attachment 1000695 View attachment 1000696 View attachment 1000697 I got my first Thunderbird today . Its an Epiphone custom in alpine white and looks and sound's awesome . I should add that I photographed it before putting new strings on although Im thinking of changing again to La Bella tapes or the D'Addario tapes in black .
Very pretty bass.

Been a long time since I was hands on with a Jazz (even longer with a Precision) and the question of the day concerns neck profiles...

Jazz and Bird necks are the same width at the nut. Are they otherwise similar in thickness etc? I could/can hunt down some Bumpers to try out but I have a thing about not trying out stuff I'm never going to buy on the basis that it wastes people's time and energy.

Thats glorious.

:) thanks! What's cool about assembling a (whatever)bird is that once started down the modification road - why stop at the neck? It's a chance to change it's inherent design flaws into pluses - like the fact that due to the body/neck design, it's a reach to the first position if riding the bass at the centralized belly-bevel - and I have long arms! So I contoured the upper back of the (Epi) body to comfortably rest against my body riding it higher/closer to the hs. Balances better too. I made it string-thru, used the very adjustable Hipshot Supertone aluminum bridge, and the Kubicki pre puts the Thunder into Thunderbird. Any T-bird owners should also have a (whatever)bird to experiment with!

Mostly the same other than the flat vs curved butt. Doing a J neck on a T-bird body requires routing. As a matter of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a (bolt-on) T-bird neck on a P or J? I for one have never seen that done.

The P neck felt like a tree trunk to me at the time. Probably poor left hand technique (after all the years of very correct cello technique).

You forgetting something/someone there Mark?

See this what happens when I don't have a whiskey early in the day - or maybe because I had a whiskey early in the day.............One of two.

Anyway, sorry! It's fixed

I couldnt see my name on the list . then again Im blind lol .

Would you all like to do the 12 days of Thunderbirds this year? Just post your shots and greetings, take some new ones, use your old ones, whatever works starting on December 14.
