Just a follow up on the last two bass "bargains" I found on CL. Seems that when you ask simple questions, like are there any scratches, you get a quick answer. As soon as you ask a question showing you actually know about basses, you get ghosted. With the Teisco, I assume that means it has major issues and they are looking for someone that doesn't have a clue...
I recall the "Flush the Riot" T-shirts and "You're a riot Alice" Buttons.
And I have no end of amusement* that the three concert riots that summer were all great bands. In addition to Alice was Teenage Head and Nash the Slash riots.
*amusement is the wrong word, but I am at a loss for the right one. It just seemed that the bands that best epitomized teenage/young adult hopelessness at the poor economy of the late 70s into 1980 caused riots.

This Rex Thunderbird demo was in my Youtube feed this morning. Sounds pretty sweet. Has some zing while retaining some Thunderbird character. I really like it.

Wow! That does sound sweet.
Just checked the UK price, bass with shipping to CA is about $500 less than thru sweetwater. Of course there might be some import, tax and customs charges I’m not aware of. But the exchange rates are getting pretty good right now.
Thought I was on to my first band membership as a bassist (using that term loosely), but just heard the lead guitarist dislocated his hip. Seems every time I get close to playing in a group, even if just jamming, something blows up. Any suggestions on removing the bad juju?

AFAIK Gibson dealers won't ship outside their country, that's why I was buying so many basses for Uwe Hornung and shipping them to him - I could get them easily here, German dealers couldn't always get stock.
Maybe if you wave a voodoo doll over the 2015?

So much for that plan. I guess I’ll just wait until a used one comes up on the block. $3000 for a current model Gibby is more than I’m willing to part with. I have a vintage Tbird/Alembic fund but don’t want to tap into that for something current.
Does that price include VAT? Authorized dealers like Anderson’s in the UK and Thoman won’t ship a lot of products to the US based on their dealer agreements. And Vice Versa for dealers from US to overseas destinations. I’ve tried to buy a few things from Anderson’s but ran into that problem. You would have to have someone buy it for you and ship it. Or better, take a vacation to England, buy one and take it home on the plane. You might be able to get the VAT refunded, but there would still be customs charges.
