Thunderbird Club

For @GBassNorth.

George,

On the ‘15, pickup height is 4 mm in the front and 5 mm in the rear at the middle of the pickup with the base of the ruler straddling the pole pieces. I still have the shim plate under the Babicz. No one who played it at the GTG mentioned noticing a chorus effect.

MCF.
Thanks so much Marshall! When the SIT strings come in I’ll give it a try. Mine are currently 6mm and 10mm so I’ll see how it works and if I need to raise them some more.

In Light Bulb news: all Incandescent will not be sold after 12/31/22 in the U.S.

Have a Thunderbird instead.

Been getting used to the rounds I put on my burst bird.
Not half bad at all.
Let’s see how long they last.

But what I really wanna try is Geos suggestion. The white nylon LaBellas.
I loved Chucks 2013 with the black ones.
The whites are brighter.
I have La Bella black tapes on my 2018 and whites on my Mikro. Definitely a difference.

I did some audio clips with black tapes and EBCF. Granted, on a IV and CP. comments were the tapes had more bottom. Or maybe less mids and tops.

There's a little truth to that.
But if the white nylons are brighter.
Could be my new fav.
But Chucks 2013 sure didn’t lack in
any area frequency wise.
And he’s got the black tapes on his.

My CP is the only bass I’ve ever had that didn’t have La Bella tapes.

Ibanez TMB 100 white tapes
Glarry BF black tapes
Glarry BF HH black tapes
Ibanez Mikro white tapes
Tbird IV black tapes
Tbird CP EBCF

I have to agree that the blacks sound good to me. They are low tension, so slap isn’t necessarily a good choice for style. But easy on the fingers. I don’t use a pick, so no experience with that.

One would hope white is brighter than black. Never sure with aliens.

A drummer acquaintance has been doing a lot of work to promote LGBTQ+ bands, venues, and festivals in the area te past couple of years. But recently, on top of the sort of BS she's had to put up with for years, she's been harassed and bullied by a straight band that got dropped from an event (no fault of hers) that she's decided to hand that off to someone else, accelerate working on her degree, and get the he!! out of Texas. I really wish I'd known about this; I'd happily have helped organize some opposition to the troglodytes. Grrrrr... Waiting to find out who they are.
