As for Bourbon, I have two words - “Eagle Rare”.
Best bang for the buck I’ve found to date - neat or on the rocks, even with a splash of simple syrup and mint, or in your morning coffee with some Irish cream.

It's amazing that there are so many to choose from these days. When I drank years ago, Bourbon was obviously around (much of it consumed by me!), but it has become the really cool thing in recent years, kind of like boutique beer I suppose. Years ago it was was the stuff of serious drinkers, generally. Now it's exploded into whole new and greatly expanded market. I'm not sure what caused the change, but it has taken off in ways I never would have guessed. Marketing, a trend? Who knows. I would have loved the vast number of options offered these days. And I'll take mine with nothing to mess up the taste please!

For the SIT fans, they've cleaned up their web site. And it looks like they've renamed their Rock Bright strings to Fusion Wound, Stainless or Nickel. Now the Power Steel packaging is looking out of place. I guess it will be redesigned to match the others. Still curious to revisit the (now) Fusion Stainless and compare to the Power Steel. Gimmick? I'll be the judge of that.

The missing piece of the puzzle - the Swiss made BMC model I posted (2nd from top of the line - what the pro's in Europe use) is over $14k. When I first began racing in the early '80s - the most you could spend on a top-end racing bike was about $2500 - and even that was one with gold-plated components which no racer I ever knew would waste money on. So more like $2k tops. Crazy.

The Magnum weight is an instant pass, but I do like the way they look & sound. It had a nice string-mute that moved in and out of position with a slider tab.

I refurbished a '70s Magnum neck for my "Devil Magnum" - a very nice neck; mahogany w/an ebony fb and a carbon band running down the length of the neck back. I made the body (based on a late '60s Ampeg "Devil Bass") from a single slab of Honduran mahogany - it was very light, just over 8lbs and balanced perfectly due to the upper horn. Pat Wilkins knocked it out of the park with the finish. Novak Darkstar/V-T stacked knob, Hipshot bridge.

Will you people take the day off. A simple drive to the airport and a 4 hour flight and I’m 5 pages behind. That’s not too bad, but I’m scared -less what I’ll find after the next 15 hour leg.

Not to worry. Here's the trick. Don't sleep and you'll have no problems getting caught up in no time.

Weight doesn't usually bother me but that bridge looks like a five pounder all by itself.

I s'pose I could go get one from the local GC-with the option of returning it for a full refund. I wouldn't "stomp" on it, but operate it by hand. If it can do what I want, I'll keep it. I guess...

They aren't cheap but for a good guitarist in a power trio - it would open up a lot of possibilities.

Those pup locations will make a difference. If that’s a typical VVT control arrangement I’d suggest you consider doing what I did on my BlingBird. I went with a discrete tone knob for each pickup specifically because I had a pup up near the neck. When you get pups that far apart it just doesn’t make much sense to me to have them share a tone knob, just too much difference between them. If you go that route you’d have a V/T stack for the neck pup and a V/T stack for the bridge pup. The third hole could be used for the output jack and you could blank off the side jack hole. Just a thought.

I’ll take a look to see if it’s VVT but there’s also a selector switch. I’m thinking ahead- that’s the easy part of this project! I have router jigs to build first.
