Thunderbird Club

Some Greco Thunderbird II video, this was the first song we played that night (it later deteriorated into a sweaty mass of bodies) so the guitar is kind low in the mix - but you can hear the bass!

......I still find it amazing that she just started learning after covid started.....

:)

That kid is amazing! Great playing and such a personality. I’m assuming that’s her dad behind the camera, he sounds like a huge supporter. Kudos to him as well for offering great encouragement and assisting her to realize her full potential.

The car I owned from the late 70's to the mid 80's was a 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75. Essentially the Limo body, but informal inside. No divider window. And it was white - not black. Dad was a freelance chauffer (i.e. airport solicitor ) and encouraged me to get rid of my Roadrunner, and buy this Caddy. In hindsight, sheer stupidity. When I worked at Bobs Big Boy in SoCal, I became the designated driver to go to concerts. The Forum, etc. I could haul multiple people in it. The interior was cloth brocade, not leather though. And in the late 70's, my co-workers had a penchant for getting dazed and confused whilst riding in the back. If you know what I mean.

I was still living at home then, and one day following a concert, Dad was looking for a wrench or something (or so he said), and got my keys and looked around inside. Well, he was overwhelmed by a sweet, uncharacteristic aroma. I had a hard time explaining to him that it wasn't me - it was all my friends from work. Dad told me I should have pulled over, and kicked them out of the car. Sure, okay.

When I moved to Oregon, I pretty much fit all my worldly belongings in that Cadillac. Came back to SoCal in 1980, and got into bass playing. It was a great band car. I could haul my tall Fender 2x15 cab, an amp head, and a couple of basses, without even using the trunk! One outdoor gig, I took our drummer's complete set too. And it wasn't a 2-tom set either. More like 4 rack toms and a floor tom. And still got all my gear in there too. He and I sat in the front.

Parallel parking that monster soon became effortless. Never dinged anything. It wasn't a chick magnet by any means. But with a boardroom that large - you could certainly seal the deal anywhere - if one presented itself.

It woulda been wilder to have a hearse, in terms of a band car. I still wouldn't rule one out. Ultimately the Cadillac developed some issues, and there was no room to park it at home. There were street sweeper days, and they would ticket you. So I parked it on a nearby cul-de-sac, with a car cover over it. Someone called it in, and when the cops saw the expired plates, they impounded it. I didn't find out until days later when a letter came in the mail. The cost to get it out of impound, and the tow charge, exceeded the car's worth at that point. So I signed over the pink to them. They wouldn't even let me remove my expensive Pioneer stereo.

I don't have a photo of mine - but here is a pic of a model:
