More importantly, more opportunities to convince the drummer to try to focus on anything other than Jazz? That's what the drummer's wife said.
Speaking of harp players.... Great album, buy the way. Talk about a band that had their own sound.
What matters is that it gets the job done, no?Thanks! I plan to! It's a cross-bike, a type I've never owned or ridden. Very similar to a road-bike, but with a slightly higher bottom-bracket, wider tyres and center-pull brakes. It's an "antique" (from '06) but in like new condition. A modern version would be all carbon (this one is aluminum/carbon), have disc-brakes, 26 gears (mine has 20) and electronic shifting... and cost close to 10k... This one is nowhere near that price.![]()
They came from my area, were originally a blues band, I saw them in a local club at an all ages Sunday afternoon matinee when I was 16 before they released their first album, unbelievable live, I saw them later on after they had become famous too, they always rocked, this was a well known one that featured Magic Dick:
(Peter was a great front man, he had been a night DJ on WBCN Boston, that's where he got his stage patter.)
"Blow your horn, Dickie!"
From their first album- 1970
Band written tune: (Juke Joint Jimmy)
'Cruisin' For Love'
"There's no way to delayin that trouble comin every day"
Nice! Needed a big roadie to go slap that adult pacifier out of the dude at the table's hand. "Play on your phone later. The band is playing now. Do we understand each other?"Scenes from last night. The other bands bass player was ill, so I played both sets and the after jam at a Toy drive gig. And there was a police pipe band!

I bet they were great live. I remember them being here once around '78-79, but didn't get to go for some reason. Always wanted to see them.

A fellow went to Israel and visited all the religious sites. When he came back to America, a friend asked him if he'd seen the wailing wall. Yes, he had. His friend asked him what he thought of it. He replied "it was like talking to a wall". Same situation. At some point I realized he was gonna do it his way. Okee-dokee.More importantly, more opportunities to convince the drummer to try to focus on anything other than Jazz?
Nice! You tried the Power Steels on the '64 and didn't like them as much? Too bright?I decided I put the SIT David Es on the '64 and give it a go today. My favorite strings for over a decade has been Infeld Super Alloys. I rate them a 10. Never even thought of trying anything else until recently. I tried the Power Steels a solid 8 maybe 9. Could easily have stayed on and been happy. The David Es once today in a live setting and clearly seem to be a 10 as well. Really impressed. The Infeld's do last a long time, but the SITS (David Es/Power Wounds) are less than half the cost any day. Planning on leaving them on and see how it goes.
I bought one of those a few months back as a donor bass for a NR build I was planning (before the NR body supplier bailed on me). I hated to scavenge parts off it because it looked and played so nice. The neck had the best action I’ve ever achieved on any bass I’ve ever owned. The overall sound was a bit darker and mellower than my VP bird, but still very good (I think it’s wired differently). IIRC the bass was a bit neck heavy but overall lighter than my VP. Anything at or around $300 for a used one is a fair price.I have a chance to score one of these(see pic)for ~1/3 the price of a 2021 NR. IIRC, a coupla y'all have one. My obvious question: how's the neck compared to a 60s 'Bird?

The one I'm looking at is a new/demo for ~$50 off with miniscule 'dings'. The way things are going with our band(no NYE gig-first time in 8 years), I'll need fewer basses rather than more, thus my hesitation. Also, I'm not one to play for myself. Need to play out.I bought one of those a few months back as a donor bass for a NR build I was planning (before the NR body supplier bailed on me). The only watch out I’m aware of on these basses is there was one model year where the bridge was placed incorrectly and it was difficult to intonate the E string. I think mine might have been from that year. I was able to intonate with no problem, but had very little room left to move the E string saddle if I needed it. Here’s the model I had…

Here’s the husk, it’s for sale dirt cheap to club members that might be interested. PM me if interested.

That dark spot near the bridge is a reflection of the camera, the finish on this bass is in very good condition.
I was interested in these when they came out. From the specs I read back then they have a fatter neck than a VP or Gibson Reverse. Not sure against your 67’s neck.I have a chance to score one of these(see pic)for ~1/4 the price of a 2021 NR. IIRC, a coupla y'all have one. My obvious question: how's the neck compared to a 60s 'Bird?

By the serial# it's a 21, 7 lbs, 1 ounce.I was interested in these when they came out. From the specs I read back then they have a fatter neck than a VP or Gibson Reverse. Not sure against your 67’s neck.
(Yes and also one batch had the bridge out of position as standard fitment!)
