So...
NBD(actually, Saturday, 12/24). It arrived just as I was loading the van to go to Orlando for family [stuff]. Oh, well, it got 48+ hours to acclimate b4 I came home today. Unboxed it ~an hour ago and f---ed* with it some. Definitely different from the 67NR(or the '09 Epi EB-0, '95 Gibson LPB2/5, or Ibanez AGB200), plus it came with round wounds(ugh!). I have a brand new set of 50-105 EBCFs that'll go on it-once I decide if it's staying The neck is a whopping 1/8" wider(BFD)at the nut. I think I can handle it. Took the strap offa the NR-for now. Major length adjustment. Tone, especially with the round wounds, is prolly more typically "Thunderbird-y" than I go for, but those knobs-and the ones on my amp(s) do move.:smug:
Promised fuzzy pic:

She’s a Beaut Clark!

How do you like the 2015? Model with the Alnico magnets and the switches? Been thinking about getting one of em. :)
thanks and happy holidays to you!
LOL - of all the people to ask. :roflmao:
Marshall is kinda busy as of late so not sure if he’ll see you message anytime soon, but let’s just say it would be a fair assumption to assume Marshall will be buried with his 2015 in hand before he ever considers giving it up. In his words, it’s the best playing bass he’s ever owned.

I haven’t played his 2015, but I have one as well and can vouch for the praises these things get. Very fine basses and quite unique in the Gibson Tbird line up. Only made one year so they are hard to find and appreciating fairly fast.

Congratulations Mike!

This is exactly the place to post this. I found this photo of the wiring of a Gibson Blackbird. Hope that helps. @Nocturnal has one, but his was previously rewired to standard VVT.

The soldering is a little nasty at the switch, but it looks like the pickups wire to the switch and then to the output jack.
The other way to wire a kill switch is to have it short the output. That’s what I would do.

What's what looks like a ball of solder near the bottom along one or both of the pickup wires? Are they soldered together?

Happy Holidays!

It is far and away my number one. It is, will always be. Perfect fit and finish, stock Babicz bridge, etc., a little under 8 1/2 pounds. No neck dive. And I love all my other TBirds, my Fenders and my Peavy Foundation. With Stainless Steel rounds (SIT Power Steels or Dunlap Marcus Miller Superbrights), and in full humbucker mode (both switches down, or off), it is very much a Tbird. Angry piano tone, nice growl and all that. And then so much more depending on how the tap switches are set. It is wonderful through the Boogie channel on my Mesa TT 800 (Mesa 400/Fender Bassman tone stack) and Mesa Subway 410 and my Ampeg SVT VR/Berg 610.

I wholeheartedly recommend every Tbird enthusiast get one. They were only made the one year and a lot are in their forever homes. If you can get one, you will not be disappointed. A lot were available used early on, I think because some owners didn’t take the time to figure them out.

Oh. And it’s a thing to switch the pickguard to black with the gold emblem.

Cheers!
