Thunderbird Club

Thanks man! used a Jazz Bass with flats and through Acoustic 301 cab (ok, an IR of it but it gives that character). I may have some preamp there too or a bit of an overdrive.
The bass "solo" section has two basses (or three if you count the slide) playing simultaneously. One has the neck pickup on and the other has the bridge. With that I managed to acquire a bit of that Roy Wood bass sound he had on The Move's last album and singles.
The bass guitar does not play a lot of normal bass things on it but I guess it's the Beefheart influence on it. And happy accidents.

Two or three basses played simultaneously? Are you an octopus?
And more importantly, which Thunderbirds were they?

Nothing like grandkids. If you don't have some, you don't know what you are missing.

Agreed! We took two of our “adopted” grandsons (13 and 9) Christmas present (we gave them homemade shopping trip cards at Christmas) shopping this evening, then to a local restaurant with a playground. Had a blast.

:D No Thunderbirds on this one 'though but a J-bass and Telecaster. My pet octopus Shulman can play the bass, if I ever decide to do these live he has a gig.
Seriously, I'd have hard time to figure out the guitar parts again even if they all are on separate track. Not to mention all the synths and reversed parts. Let's just hope this won't turn into a big hit so I don't have any pressure to perform....

A big hit lets you hire touring musicians to play the other parts so you just play whatever you want to. 8^)

I just want to say a big thank you to all your comments about my music. Very appreciated.
I hate to advertise but here's my bandcamp site if anyone wants to follow it.
If I get a hit I'll hire all of you so I don't have to pose for photographs since I don't have any room left on stage. Just bring a T-bird. Any kind will do.

O'Man
The REALLY Fabulous Thunderbirds!
The Splendiferous Thunderbirds?

Saw/heard Sam Prekop and John McEntire a few hrs ago here in SF. An electronica duo/duet? (Chicago based - Sea & Cake/Sam Prekop/Tortoise) I knew Sam when he was a kid and later briefly played upright bass in his first band 'Shrimp Boat'. Haven't seen or spoke with him for decades. Great show - they situated themselves in the center of the clubs floor and everyone stood/sat around them. It amazes me that they know which knob to adjust!

Sam's also a visual artist (photographer) - he was initially an oil-painter.

One of Sam's oil on linen paintings from around '86 (in my living room)

That was brilliant!

Acquiring the Roy Wood bass sound in mind I made an experiment. I played the same bassline twice but with a different pickup selected. If anyone is familiar with The Move's final album "Message From The Country" they know what kind of sound I mean. Something like this:

Anyway, here's my experiment. The pickups are panned slightly to the left (neck) and right (bridge). Overdrive, compression and cab sim.
