One reason I started using a pick when playing.

They were a good example of how music doesn't have to be complicated music to be great music. I'm sure they all could have played more complex music, but what they did worked and people will be listening to their work for a very long time.

Dusty was cooking it pretty good in the vid you posted. He is missed.

I guess it’s a good time to post this one.
50 years later. I bought this new in ‘73.
I was playing as a weekend pro at 16 years old. I had to be snuck into some of the clubs that we played.because of my age.
I drove the band bus on a learners permit.
Although it’s been modded ( to my preference) it’s still in my collection with a never sell tag on it.
I would show it over on the Rickenbacker page but it might give some of those folks a heart attack.
I ran it with a brand new 72/73 SVT .
The Rick still weighs the same. ..I don’t.

Looks superb and I like the mods. It's even sleeker with those pickups and I bet it sounds great too. Passive EMGs?

It’s an 18 volt active set up.I have to remove the pickguard for battery replacement..but I can do that without de tuning or removing the strings.
I wanted the Rick to sound more like my early Steinberger.
I think the Steinbergers had the first active EMG pickups that I knew of at the time.Loved that sound an didn’t hesitate to do the modification.
