Saw an oddity tonight. A banjo with a guitar neck and strung with 6 strings and guitar tuning. An “Electar” I think.
It was donated to the local Vinnies to sell through their Op Shop. It needs some repairs so I’ll keep an eye out and if it is cheap enough when fixed… or extremely cheap and requiring some work I may pick it up.

An oddity? Sounds like it's a normal guitar banjo.

I've 50% less basses, and 100% less guitars - with seven amps (one's a combo) and four cabs (one of which can run top half & bottom half independently).


So apparently, need to either buy more amps & cabs, or sell off a few basses........

How do you manage with only 5 basses?

The Epi EB-0 is the 'backup' bass(hmm. I've never paired it with the P_____, sumpin' to do-later). I can only play-to whatever degree-one at a time. There are a coupla basses I would kinda like to have(a short scale NR/VP would be nice ), but I prolly won't.

Got my Seymour Duncan Custom Shop pickups in today and a quick setup done.

I did look at some of the more "boutique" options, but after converting to AUD and shipping here this was the most economical method by a long shot and I've had three other sets of regular Duncan's and been happy with all of them.

I have never played any Tbird apart from my own which had the standard 2009 pickups in it since I bought it new, so it was perhaps silly to spec something different from stock, but I figured if I was going Custom Shop I was going to get custom, so I asked for "Bright, vintage wind on the neck while bridge to be hotter and more gnarly - but not to the point that they don’t work in tandem as a set."

Standard DC resistance according to the website is 12.3k, 12.5k while these are marked as 7.89k, 9.49k and wound by MJ. I don't really know what that means or how they differ from stock, but they sound great through my Ampeg. For the first time ever I am rolling between bridge and neck and messing with the blend and tone pot, just like I do on my (also SD loaded - Pearly Gates) Les Paul.

Still the honeymoon phase but really, really happy so far.

At 13 being totally clueless, it's why I chose a bass guitar over a bass - it was bigger than the guitars on either side of it on the wall. (and only had 4 strings!) I was tall at an early age so it just seemed the right size for me!

Was the same age when i started playing, i chose bass cause my brother chose guitar.
As it turned out, he was able to play bass down the road like he's been playing it forever.
Put a guitar in my hands and i'm clueless.

I talked to a FHP trooper one night. He said that us going 55 was more dangerous. Tired people have run into slow moving trucks(most of our runs were overnighters).

Fortunately yes. Thanks for asking.

I came up Monday. A small spot in the siding in the back needs to repaired and painted. We had a couple kids clean a path through the berm the snowplows left in order to access the driveway and they messed up some gravel that needs to be raked and compacted. I looked the inside over thoroughly and didn’t see any leaks. One tree is bent over from the weight of the snow. There was snow about ten inches deep on the decks that I shoveled off; it was really heavy with water from rain last weekend.

I found out that neighbors at a few houses up where we are were trapped for more than a week, at times without power. But they’re fine.

I have several basses up here and the SVT rig in the basement. They’re all fine.

It IS a mystery, right out of the Twilight zone. I see that here in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) A LOT. Overpricing is a favorite thing to do here in music stores. It's so bad that it's cheaper for me to buy from Thomann (music store from Germany) and have it imported here. It's insanity.

I bought a pedal from Thomann. Made it here in a few days. Great service.

I can’t play guitar at all, but I think if I were to get guitar lessons, it would seriously improve my bass playing, because there will be a lot of crossover information, and having an understanding of guitar chords and what the guitar player is doing, would help with coming up with interesting basslines.

hadn’t had a driving ticket in over 40 years and just got two in six months….. not happy at all….. first one was at night….. the CHP SOB revved his Charger behind me on an on ramp (should have guessed he was a cop from the headlights) and I took off hard in my Camaro thinking he wanted to race…..WRONG!…was so pissed…second time on the highway during the day doing 82 in a 65 he was right there off the side of the road using LIDAR that muy escort detector failed to pickup…..
wrote me up for 75 instead of 82….apparently there have more highway deaths in CA since before COVID so the troopers are on a mission…..heck, I barely remember seeing a a cruiser on the highway during all of COVID…..now they’re everywhere…the iPhone GPS actually warns you but I had it off that day….…..​
