Thunderbird Club

Nice!

One of the best concerts I ever saw was Molly Hatchet in '78(?). No flash, just kicked musical butt. Wet Willy opened from them and were outstanding. Paid $1.02 for the ticket. Local radio station WLRS, 102 promo. MH started out with one of Skynyrd's old producers and later changed to a guy Uncle Ted used. Their sound became kind of thin after that.

I think they had a new vocalist when we played with them. Uncle Ted, as in The Nuge?

Molly Hatchet - There is a band I haven't thought about in a while. I used to listen to them in the 80s; very few people in school knew of them or listened to southern rock.
Part of the Jacksonville, Fl musical kitchen. Skynyrd, .38 Special, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Johnny Van Zant Band (which was really good. Kind of a British feel in some ways), seems like I'm forgetting someone. Of course from other parts of Fl were, The Allman Bros, The Outlaws, Tom Petty, Don Felder. I'm likely forgetting someone there as well.

After a couple albums (80ish) Danny Joe Brown had to stop due to diabetes. A just named Jimmy Farrrah(?) stepped in for an album or two. Brown came back for a few years. I think all but the drummer Bruce Crump are dead now.

Here's a washed out sounding demo from about 1977, I liked the song but this demo sounds terrible, it was done in a good studio too, it may be a 100th generation cassette or something. I wish I still had that bass, an either 1967 or 68 CAR P bass with an early rosewood fretless neck that I destroyed with rotosounds.

I like it!

Yes, great though. I think he was a little paranoid when we played with him, his people wouldn't let us near him and we only saw him onstage.

He spent time in the slammer for something. I do like A-11...

My dad bought a new jet boat in 1980, black with the 454 and big chrome headers in the back, a freaking muscle car on water. On the deck was the Frazetta mural which was the “Flirtin’ with Disaster” album cover.

He’s still got it. I’ll post a pic if I can sometime soon.

happens here too……wanna listen but they won’t play…
Click on this icon in the video to open it at Google Drive and it should work. A lot of stuff I find won't work when embedded at TB.
