One nice thing about being home is I can grab my basses out of storage, here's a couple of EB-3's, 1965 on top and 1970 bottom:

Seeing your picture reminds me of how stupid I was when I let my -70 slothead EB3 go some years ago

I also used to have a nice -68 EB0, also that is gone

But I still have my -67, pictured here together with the long gone EB0

You could tell that had some heft to it even from the clip. I imagine live it was fantastic.

Now I like that. Very Dregs sounding in some ways. It's musical. Much fusion to me just isn't very musical and kind of sounds like the goal was to play as many odd things as possible with as much odd timing as possible as well. Not true, but kind of how I hear much of it. Some of it reminds of the saying, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Keep in mind that I'm a simpleton!

I have dreaded my tissue paper experiment….

I’m not getting colour bleed, wrinkling, and tearing with the printed tissue paper I’m using on my next two projects….

the headless NR 7enderboid needs a daphne blue base coat then tissue paper application and finishing.

My DC tele treble geetar needs a shell pink or seafoam green base coat and tissue application and finishing…


Blue with yellow flowers is the NR…

Greenish with pink flowers is the DC telecaster…

Fusion? I love it when it's dangerous, so to speak. Mahavishnu, 70's Miles, Tony Williams' "Believe It" (Holdsworth on guitar!), Jan Hammer's first two efforts, many Magma offshoots from the 70's, Area, Brand X.
When it got too funky and bands started to chase the charts, that is not my music.

Sounds like a very cool finishing project. So, if I have this right, you’ll put on a base coat of color to kinda go with the tissue paper background color. Then you’ll apply the tissue paper. What do you go over it with? Clear poly rattle can? Multiple clear coats and sanding and buffing?

Sounds neat. Can’t wait to see how it comes out.

I might be able to use the tissue paper over the sickly purple, but I don’t want to take any chances so I’ll redo the base coat. And “burst” with the daphne blue to finish the edges.

I have mostly used bullseye shellac as my top coat, but on my AvoTigua™ telecaster I found a poly that worked well, I’ll see what I have the most of currently. But I think I prefer the shellac.

I don’t do much sanding and buffing, it delays playing time.

I know the great reputation Lull basses have but how do they compare to the real deal as far as sound quality and feel. I have not seen one in person yet but the body shape looks smaller.
