So, after two tries at a relationship that began with the young lady (using the term "lady" disingenuously) loitering and flirting - I wasn't ready for a third Miss Adventure. Even when another one tried. It was a couple decades later, and once again at a job. This was the woman in Payroll, with whom I joked around on occasion. One day, in front of some co-workers, she blurts out "Are you gonna go out with me or what???" ...using her best outdoor voice, which sounded like Roseanne, by the way. Yikes. It was weird that she chose to ask me in front of co-workers. Perhaps to cover her rear, in the event I got uncomfortable. But that was her thing... a true extrovert and show-off. (I once asked a woman out at a job, very politely - just for a dinner date - and she told me no, and if I persist, she would go to HR). So it's tricky when conducted at work.
Anyway, I said "okay" to the date with the woman with the loud voice, and we had a date. But that was it. Maybe it's just me, but in my older age, I prefer them demure to being a stand up comedian. I got married five years ago (another co-worker... what are the odds...) and she's perfect. Demure and lady-like in public, and a goof when the occasion calls for it. You don't want them solid prim and proper. A nut now and then is good.
