Thunderbird Club

On a kind of related note - while in high school in San Jose my friends and I would routinely cut class and stop at a local sub shop on our way to Santa Cruz. We'd order a meatball sub or some other hot meat sandwich, wrap it in aluminum foil and place it in the engine compartment near the intake manifold. By the time we got to the beach we had piping hot subs to eat. My Mustang with the 289 hipo heated things up perfectly. As an added benefit, I rerouted the window washer line to discharge at the dashboard near the center console, installed a fresh washer tank and filled it with vodka. With the flip of a switch, you got all you could drink while driving. Seemed brilliant at the time, not so much now.
But technically it was a closed container.

Rebuilding Beat Street;

Will probably come up with a different name but for now the only two original members are Kip (guitarist to the left playing the white Tele) and myself....recruited old drummer I used to gig with Andy Cornwall and are trying out Claire Valory (Ross' niece) tonight at SCRehearsalStudios........Doing Heaven 17, We got the Beat, Stop Dragging and on and on.....this gal can SING....stoked!...:hyper:

A bit of a Jennifer Anniston thing going on in the bottom pick. That and the other singer guitarist ought to get you a lot of gigs. John Michael won't be happy. The winery crowd will eat it up.

It's a Type 3 Ghia - pretty rare!
yeah figured, looks likes this Yenko Stinger…

I saw those race at MidOhio in the late 1960s. They didn't do too well, as I recall. I don't remember what class they were in, so I don't know what they were racing against. Some kind of British roadsters, no doubt. They may have been more competitive when they first hit the scene.

There are V8 powered Corvairs floating around. One of those would be way more fun than any of us is really allowed to have.

heck, we may have even crossed paths…..my brother was born in Colombus in 67 and my dad used to like going to the track…only 240 HP on those…...they sure look good though…. from what I recall that class was dominated (as you said) by TR-4s…..to this day it baffles me that GM would exercise the audacity of producing a rear mounted turbocharged (not super) air cooled flat engine…..

I don't know if it has been mentioned here but Sweetwater is taking pre orders for Gibson 60s Thunderbird pickups. Seems reasonable at $129.00 each.
Thanks for the post Scott!

Ceramic T Bird Plus style:
Gibson Accessories Thunderbird Bass Modern Pickup - Black
And Alnico '21 NR vintage style:
Gibson Accessories Thunderbird Bass Reissue Pickup - Chrome

I am beyond astonished. The prices are fair. This is fantastic news Scott. I'm not seeing a preorder option to distinguish between neck and bridge winds. I'll be calling my guy in the AM. Maybe there is something to the "new" Gibson.

I'll try the Alnico "vintage" one in place of the Artec in the BaCH, even though I'm not really hating that pickup so much after getting it dialed in on my Mesa rig. But I really love the pickups in the '21 NR.

And here they are from the Gibson site. And I checked as recently as last Saturday for any news. It doesn't look like they distinguish between bridge and neck.

I'm going to order a vintage one direct from Gibson. Im hoping George can help me install it in the BaCH when I go down for my soldering lesson.

This is so awesome of Gibson to finally be offering these.
