Right you lovely lot, I've picked up a Greco (IV type) and have spent longer than I wanted mucking about with my ½" post Hipshot Ultralites to discover that the bushings are so much bigger than the originals I thought I'd ask: do the ⅜" Ultralites/bushings fit in the existing holes on a Greco headstock? I'd rather not do things to this bass at this end of it - got a different hard tail to go on it and I'm also wondering if anyone has taken the simple route and used these locking posts with their 3-point bridges instead of going all drill press on their basses?

Hipshot does make various bushings. It’s worth contacting them to see if they can help you out.

I haven’t done it, but the locking studs look like a good idea. I would think a Greco would have metric threads.

Mike and I were discussing the cases currently available, not the one I measured for you. The one for my BaCH is really long. His ‘67 would fit if he could find one. But the current TKL and Yorkville cases are only 50” long. His ‘67 will fit a Gibson NR case. But they are expensive. Finding an inexpensive case to fit his NR is difficult. He could maybe get one of these and modify the padding…but it isn’t a certain fit.

Bookmarked.
I talked to them about a year+ ago and they didn't have one this size. I might look into it if I decide to use the 'Bird on gigs-if we start getting some more bookings.

it definitely should Mike, unless your 67 dimensions are different from the 68……what am I missing?…..

see my point? If Marshall’s BaCH fits, your 67 should not have any issues….
Wow, I could be totally mistaken, but I thought my VP was longer than the BaCH NR and that the VP was about the same as the vintage reverse. Too many brain cells destroyed in my youth I guess.

Beautiful work Geo!

They are really good with customer service. I’m in their system, having bought directly from them. Every conversation I’ve had with them has been great. If they can help, they will. And usually at no or a very reasonable cost, depending on what you need.

I'm pretty sure the VP is longer than a 60's reverse. The neck is set further out and the headstock is longer.

Incoming!!!

I’m stoked. I have wanted one for years. Came damn close to buying one of the last new ones in 2017 from the now long gone Mesa store in Hollywood. I test drove it through a Powerhouse 410. It sounded incredible. Of course it was gone when I went back a couple months later.

An opportunity arose. It should be here next week.

Nice Marshall! Looks like "amp week" for a few of us!

Quoting myself because i forgot to say somethings:

@Ringhammer, if you do, let us know how they perform in comparison to the other pickuos in your birds. Definitely curious how different they sound from 60s repros & modern ones.

I'm still aiming for the gibson vintage RIs for my treebird. Feel its my better option going with Alinco 5 magnet blades & gain clarity. Vs the modern ceramic magnet/steel blades.

I’ll do my best. Tricky part is all my ‘birds are a different combination of strings/pickups/tunings. If I get the Gemini, I will put them in the VP that the Novaks will come out of and otherwise the strings and tuning will stay the same, so I should be able to get an idea of the difference between those.

As an example of why this comparison stuff can be a challenge, I had some Lollars in the ‘01 bird, E standard with some old but still bright DM Blue Steels. Sounded great. Took the Lollars out and put them in the ‘03 bird, E standard with new EBCF 45-100. Not diggin’ it. Change to 45-105, and liked that a bit more. Can’t describe what I didn’t/don’t like, it may be the flats. As much as I like EBCF’s, maybe those on a ‘bird with vintage style pickups isn’t for me. The Novaks will go in the ‘03, and I’ll keep the strings and tuning the same, so we’ll see if I notice a difference/improvement with the flats on that.

I have the Gibson Vintage Reissue in the ‘01 with the Blue Steels, and, in my garage space at low and medium volume they sound fantastic. They are going in my black ‘97, and probably with some some Ken Smith Metal Masters 110-50(?) in Eb tuning. Hoping that those strings and those pickups make that black ‘97 sing. It currently has Lollars, some who knows how old EBCF’s 110-50 and tuned to D standard. Sound is nothing to write home about, but I’m guessing the strings are beyond done. Unlike many, I haven’t come to appreciate ancient flats on a bass, at least not for any of the music I’m currently involved in.

I notice the “EBCF” could sound like some odd tuning if someone wasn’t sure what we are talking about.

…has anyone put EBCF’s on a bass and tuned to EBCF…;)
