I have decided I like having trim rings when using vintage style pickups on a thunderbird:

…and chrome on black is pretty too:

I prefer a trim ring on any metal can imbedded in wood. About the only time I don’t think they’re necessary is when the pickup is mounted in the pickguard, and even then a trim ring still looks at home around a metal can.

That is why I don’t have a T40. It just wouldn’t get played.

Nice pu's though... my Galaxis weighed under 8lbs. (sold years ago)

I think they also complete the look on plastic pickups. My '76 BC Rich has them.

I like them on wood, not on pickguards...part of the attraction to NRs….

Yeah, that looks 'correct', but on bare wood not as much. 'Course my neck pup is hidden by the handrest thing-y.

BTW, I know how they cold brew coffee, but how does one 'cold fry' chicken?:smug:

Slight rant: after storing it it in its case for few months (which is the “do I need it” test), I broke out my Fender AV II 1960 P. In the end I listed it on Reverb as “Fender American Vintage II ‘60 Precision Bass 2022”. The first message I got was a guy asking if I had the certificate of authenticity paper work. Like it’s a real 1960 P bass. I waited for a couple hours so I wouldn’t be rude and told him it was a modern Fender replica of a 1960 bass, not a 1960 bass. Really?

Sumpin' tells me he got all excited and missed the "2022" part. Always read to the end.
