I don’t use a compressor per se. I just rely on the amp voicing and can voicing sand eq. The Mesa TT800 has a symmetry control knob for the power section. Adjusting it seems to wort sort of like a compressor. I’m still learning about everything that beast of an amp does.
I'd had to learn to use compression in a recording course years ago, although I didn't get nearly enough time with one. When I wanted one for bass, I went with the MXR. The LEDs are really handy, and the controls just made sense to me. It used to be always on, now it's usually on.

MM style pickups would be the first red flag![]()
Or the DJB project, we've been recording guitar as two tracks: one is the guitar direct and the other is pedal board>amp>mic. I can see on the tracks there's a lot more dynamic range on that direct guitar signal. Mike doesn't have a compressor on his board, but between the dirt pedals and the tube amp (Superchamp XD using the clean channel), there's a fair bit of compression going on.I'd had to learn to use compression in a recording course years ago, although I didn't get nearly enough time with one. Nice dress!Well,
It's been a pleasant surprise this Thursday, I dropped by my local GC and picked up my new (used) amp - it's heavy!
I am really glad I picked this up, it sounds great with my SWR , I spent a good part of the afternoon playing through it, and am quite impressed with the tones I can get from it, for 335.00 it was a steal! Thank you @godofthunder59 Scott!

Nice dress!
He's my girlfriend's favourite Zelda character. Although he only debuted in 2017, and I'd been liking the 'Bird since '16! Funny that in '17 I'd got the opportunity to buy an Epi Fenderbird as my first bass, but opted for a Viola instead (which I since sold). If only the Epi VP comes in a non-reverse Pelham Blue version so Tulin looks like it.Tulin-bird?
My first Bird rig was a Gibson into an Ampeg Portaflex, too. Later on I've been liking a more British tone, so I've sold the Ampeg and been watching for a Hiwatt or Ashdown. The HOT pickups really drive a valve nicely!
My VP has arrived. Sorry for not having time for a photo or plug-in right now, but I can tell you it looks more pristine than my former Gibby. The neck is a bit chunkier than the G, but still very fast (narrow and true) with I believe improved weather stability. And my girlfriend also likes its look in person - it was the stock photo (which I didn't like, either) that was off-putting.

We’ve been waiting seven years for the Pelham Blue Epi NR with 760’s and matching tuners. Given the sales success of the current Gibson NR’s, I’m guessing Gibson won’t let Epi do it for fear of cannibalizing sales. My first Bird rig was a Gibson into an Ampeg Portaflex, too. Good score! Now I think we all need one. Ok, maybe not since I have three tube heads already. But not one like that.Well,

May be of some interest. I've found that I like a little overdrive, but not fuzz or distortion.
Or give me death!Give me grit!
