Thunderbird Club

I've never broke a string playing. That is pretty R&R.:bassist:

I can say it's happened to me, way more than once.......Always a good idea to carry a second bass, I guarantee no one in the audience wants to watch a string change. 1 bass = none, 2 basses = 1.

I'll carry two Thunderbirds. I never carry two uprights, partly because it would take up too much room and partly because I only have one upright to carry.

In this regard - any recording (studio) incorporates compression.
Yes and I almost always put some compression on my recorded bass tracks.
What I meant to say was a tube amp will add a fair bit of compression (live or studio) and recording a direct track beside an identical "through the amp" track really showed it.

That's good to know.

Broke a string last night at punk rock rehearsal. Haven't done that in... 40 years?? Right at the saddle...
Finished rehearsal with no 'A' string. It was time to flex the resourceful muscle I guess. Rock n roll!
Gotta dig up the file I s'pose.
Sometimes they just break! I'm jealous that you have a punk rock band:D

I prefer convenience.
For those that don't know the Dead Kennedys reference:

It's an interesting project, in that the skill level of the players is somewhat limited. The drummer pays attention if you catch him on something, and he's really good about taking it constructively, he listens and enthusiastically does it. Really rare in my experience.
The guitar player is a very elementary player, but he's all about it and puts his heart and grit into it.
It's starting to have a shape, and that's gratifying.
As we started into "Slow Death" by the Flaming Groovies, that's when my A string went... Glad I remembered to look down and find my bridge saddle!

I only bring one bass. I had an amp fail mid show once so I always bring a back-up these days.

Small, light and sounds great! We use it for keys at our rehearsal space.

Sounds like a good start. There's a lot you can do with basic skills and enthusiasm.

Putting a band together takes time to get everyone to gel, but once that happens it's full speed ahead! TSC is working on new material, a couple originals by Paul and a rendition of Wicked Game by Violet Orlandi.

Which one of you bought Eric Clapton's SG for $1.27 million? At least post a pic for goodness sake....
Not me Donny.
It’s funny, but I always think of EC as a Strat player.
Probably because when I started listening to him he was on Strats.
But I know he played Gibsons earlier on.

Do you take a Thunderbird as a backup to the upright ?

yep…..all fresh….cuisine somewhat confused but it’s not Italy……no complaints..

Last time I was in Malta I got stranded by a bus driver. Traveling back from the far side of the island to the port and the bus driver pulls onto a side street in a little neighborhood, takes his money box, and leaves. He didn't return for an hour. Since he left the keys, we were tempted to just steal the bus.

So, I took this one instead.

A drummer who listens and a guitar player who gives it his all and knows it isn’t all about him. Getting them there is 90% of the battle. Sounds like you’re well on the way. Congratulations.
