Thunderbird Club

That pickguard looks like a cheese (or Finger) shredder! Yikes!

It's sharp...literally and figuratively

Dedicated to two ladies who have severely disappointed me these last couple of months. Promised me much and then never delivered on that promise.

Musically, the idea behind the song is based on how simple and memorable the riff of the Kinks' "you really got me" is, and so I made that riff even simpler. But as I was coming up with this song it began to take shape as a Doo-wop song, I embraced it.

As usual, I played everything myself. The bass is my self-made "Monster" bass.

Which has the pickup from a Fender Sting signature model bass and a set of very dead and thuddy sounding strings.

T-Rex as garage band! :bassist:

I like that Black Hipshot! Looks sweet on that Bass.
Is that a metal pickguard? Not knocking...it really looks great.
I would be clumsy enough to shave my finger tip off if that has sharp, open edges.
I still have a few love scars from aggressive playing around the bass bridge!
Nice looking Bird!
Thanks, Sub. It's a '06 and the previous owner ordered the aluminum pickguard from a guy in Germany, who did a great job. The owner made the matching truss rod cover himself. I was so used to the typical Thunderbird look that I had the original back on it for a while. I put some black paper under the Bird cutout. To me it looked better than seeing the wood. I agree, the hipshot looks great on it and is a wonderful upgrade. I had a terrible time getting it to sound good to me (having had a '64 for decades), but the black nylon tapes are a great match, and the bonus is they look great. It plays/feels 98% as nice as my '64. Gibson did a great job on it.
