I can-or could-play at guitar, but I wasn't any good at it and I've always gravitated toward low pitched instruments starting in junior high on bass clarinet, then bass clarinet, baritone sax, and even contrabass clarinet until I landed on bass in 67 while in the USN music program.G, A, D, E, C, B7
(I have to cheat for F though, or switch to Uke for that song)
I don’t want to hit “like”!
People, any experience with the Hercules GS432B triple guitar stand? (Double stand needed but if a triple is available (as above) thinking may as well get that one).
I want to get the Gibson T’bird and the Maton acoustic guitar out of their cases and more readily accessible - being mindful of the nitro finish.
My plan to repurpose the rumpus room into a music / movie room with wall hangers has not progressed like I hoped (or at all)… looking for a plan b.
What are those letters anyway![]()
Missed your B-day Miles (a day late and a dollar short) - hope it was a good one!![]()
I have a single and double, but am debating whether to get a triple for home or switch to wall hangers there.I have a Hercules triple, not sure of the model, but it’s pretty good, versatile and will “hang” most any bass.
Takes up some space on the floor though.

Ha ha! Love it![Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Dedicated to two ladies who have severely disappointed me these last couple of months. Promised me much and then never delivered on that promise.
Musically, the idea behind the song is based on how simple and memorable the riff of the Kinks' "you really got me" is, and so I made that riff even simpler. But as I was coming up with this song it began to take shape as a Doo-wop song, I embraced it.
As usual, I played everything myself. The bass is my self-made "Monster" bass.

Which has the pickup from a Fender Sting signature model bass and a set of very dead and thuddy sounding strings.
Not helping with that image, Miles. Just saying....![]()
Until you get used to bar chords, it can be. Or you can just fret the 4 higher pitched strings. Much easier. Or learn the open E with your middle, ring, and pinky fingers, then slide up 1 and use your index on the G and E for the five string version.F is a pain to play on guitar.
Ha ha! Love it!

I missed it too. I will raise a glass in your honor, and, darn it, I'll raise two glasses! Because I'm late, and that's uncool. I must make amends.
Happy Birthday Miles!

There's really no excuse these days to forget. Everyone, except for Mike, has a smart phone, and contacts have a field for a birthday (at least on iOS). Whenever I learn about someone's birthday, I add it to their contact card right away. Please enjoy the drinks, but it's no biggie. I've forgotten my own numerous times. The standout (true!) story:
I woke up the day after and realized no one at all had wished me happy birthday. They all forgot - my friends at school, the several friends I shared a house with, my bio-fam, everyone.
Except one friend who was hitchhiking, stuck in the middle of nowhere with nary a pay phone in sight ( this was 1974). She wished me happy birthday the first chance she got. A few days later, everyone in the house was hanging around, and an upcoming birthday was mentioned. D said, "Miles don't you have a birthday coming up soon?" Using my best forlorn face, I just shook my head. "Oh s[no]t! Did we miss it! It was before Christmas, wasn't it! I'm so sorry!"
"Oh, no, it's fine," I said with a hang dog expression. I messed with them a few minutes before I burst out laughing and confessed I didn't remember it, either.
But you know what? The next year they all remembered and got me some killer presents. That was completely unexpected but meant a lot.
