I finally got back to filing the nut slots on the old Epi IV for the fatter four strings of a five-string EBCF set, and set up the bass the way I like it (low action). I need to play around a bit more with signal chain EQ, but overall I’m happy so far.
I tried it on this bass because I rarely played it any more (the CP and Grecos having stolen my heart). Turns out I like it better BEAD!

Good point - most of the time you'd think the bass was canned in music vids back n the day. It wasn't until the '80s that people realized there was a person on stage playing bass!

Are they good? They definitely left their mark visually. So it's not an amp, it's specifically a pre-amp?
tremendous amplifiers, in my top 5 list, this one is the 7 band preamp variant into their workhorse 250 Watt power amp….tone for days and days…..they were the ones that brought back the multiple 10” driver approach (a la Ampeg) at a time when most favored dual 15’s…

I listened to it and realized it's one of the songs on my Dusty Springfield "greatest hits" CD, a song from the most excellent "Dusty in Nashville" LP which produced this classic Dusty song -
Great bass-line, and classic hand gestures that Dusty incorporated. Watch it with the sound off for full effect - it's like a tutorial on effective use of hand gestures while performing! We have a running 'joke' (more of a smile-generator) in TSC with Kirstin emulating Dusty's hand gestures when playing her songs in rehearsal and live. Most likely we are the only ones who 'get it'.
In her transition from '50s/'60s "bee-hive" hairdo to something more 70's ... incorporating it helped her create a visually taller figure performing as she was a petite woman.

Am I the only one who prefers the sound of 2x12s? My R100 has a single 12, but I've had the opportunity to play through 2 of 'em, daisy chained, for 200W>2x12. SWEET!

Band inside jokes are alotta fun. Most of the groups I've been in will have a couple. Either a change in a lyric ("there's a bathroom on the right")or a riff that we 'get' and the crowd...well, doesn't.

Nice looking bass.
And a nice strap that isn't slick on the back. Suede backed works perfectly for me. Once it forms to your shoulder it will work even better.
But even today, the bass player typically gets the least camera time. Other than cute women (Tal always gets camera time), but if the whole band is women, the basis will still usually get short shrift.
