Who's closing? I used to buy a lot in So IN. Likely more than here in Louisville.I love buying from small shops when I can. One of my favorite local shops here in town announced they are closing at the end of the month. They have a couple nice Reverend basses and a Genzler cab for a great price, but I've been saving for a Tbird or a Rickenbacker...

I’m a huge Turner and WA fan!
Wishbone Ash came into my world when I was in 8th grade. The guy at the local record shop was spinning Pilgrimage one day when I walked in. It had just come out . I had to have it. And that was the beginning of my Martin Turner fandom. Martin played a Ric on the album, but got Overend’s T-bird not long after that. And the T-bird became my aspirational bass.
Here are links to an interview that explains some of Martin’s history and his birds.

This live version of this song exhibits what became the classic Turner T-bird tone:
Been in there a time or two when I was in that part of town. Hate to hear that.degeorge brothers guitars on Frankfort aveneue in Louisville. Been open 10 years. Small shop mainly carrying boutique stuff, but they always were cool with me playing anything. I’ve bought plenty of pedals and a couple Genzler pieces from them over the years.
Ditto. I’ve had good luck with the stores that accept offers. On thing I like about Reverb is buying items from small shops that have an online presence and give some money to a family owned business. Virtually all of my strings come from places like that.
Sorry to hear that. What Reverends do they have?I love buying from small shops when I can. One of my favorite local shops here in town announced they are closing at the end of the month. IV is probably my favorite.I'm quite fond of the Turner -era 'Ash too and lately I've been listening mostly a few live albums from the Wisefield -era (Glasgow '77, Portsmouth '80 and the double vinyl Live Dates II). New England and Just Testing are my favs of the studio albums.
Indeed. I've mentioned before that I put items I may not need right away in my watch list and will at times get some nice discounts offered.Ditto. I’ve had good luck with the stores that accept offers.
If I ever get a G&L, it’ll be that one. This got that call today. This is one of the best basses I've ever bought. Maybe right after the better of the Thunderbirds.

Dolls looked cooler….The Dolls were pretty influential IMO. Different though. The Dolls more so for punk, Roxy for New Wave.
Huh. I’m digging that purple-blue-grayish burst Mercali 5er. I’ve been wanting a 5er and am thinking a Reverend may work nicely. I have to think on it.This is what they had a couple days ago. Everything was 25% off from MAP price. They also had a series 1 Genzler Bass Array 12-3 heavily discounted too.

I hope you do. Marshall. A great rare(ish) "vintage" instrument without a huge cash outlay. Not only do they sound amazing, they feel amazing. Mine does anyway. If I ever get a G&L, it’ll be that one.
