Thunderbird Club

That reminds me. We were in Chucks garage during the GTG last summer and someone asked me why I picked Engle as a handle. The first part of my answer was that I had just bought an Englehardt upright when i joined Talkbass. Then the conversation veered off about upright basses and I never got to the second part about running Engle cams in my air-cooled VWs.

And bonus - Scott Walker's real name was Scott Engle, Noel Scott Engle to be exact. "Walker" / "Walker Brothers" were their stage-names. (not brothers by birth)

I was landing gear/flight controls on F-111s at Nellis AFB, and end of runway again with F-111s at Takhli AFB in Thailand during the last year of that war, a crew Chief of an F-4 (my bird was 67-7487) at Lakenheath AFB, England. Point being I was on the runway during a lot of take-offs. IMO, the F-105 (Thuds), with their 5 stage afterburners were the loudest, the F-101 (Voodoo's) were plenty loud as well.
I understand it’s all relative and has to do with where/how far away you’re standing, wind, etc but the only plane I saw flying that seemed louder than the 105 was one of these……

They actually look like real Brothers in that photo! I've known and seen real brothers that look nothing alike ...like the Bee Gees...

I was driving down a 4 lane Highway a few Summers ago and the sky was bright blue...not a cloud in the sky. All of a sudden, brake lights everywhere and my favorite Jet aircraft flew over low enough to see detailed features of the Stealth Bomber. That thing is breath taking to see it flying. Almost caused a wreck!
I found out later there was an air show in the area.

Gigged the red one last night.
I must be getting old..I remember learning these tunes on the set list when they first came out. I guess I should know them by now..

Bond Girl sets from a cold, rainy Saturday night in SF. Bar is in Bernal Heights not far from where Cherie & I live. We had a good crowd of enthusiastic people dancing and generally having a good time in spite of the wintery conditions outside. We did two sets and another band did the last hr. We've shared nights with their bass player Zöe & drummer Adam before (in different bands) It was only their 4th gig together in this band but they rocked! Especially nice hearing them play a rockin' version of 'Superstition' mid-set and ending with 'Suspicious Minds' -

I just checked out your Sean Conneries album, EPONYMOUS...Dang JIO that sounds good!
Kirstin Hirai has a beautiful voice.
I see you're also on Apple Music so I added it to my playlist...no commercials like on YouTube. Some good stuff!
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World!

52 in Orlando this AM. With the humididity that soaks right through ya, it's 'chilly'.

The Olympics were positively crystalline on my drive into downtown, sorry, but Fla holds little magic compared to that.

Thanks man  It was 4 yrs in the making and I'm very proud of what we accomplished. Yes, Kirstin is very gifted/talented and a really cool (now) mother of two little girls! I'm supremely fortunate to be associated as musicians and friends with everyone in the band.

I posted this here prior but Phil is pretty new to our band and isn't on Eponymous. He is on this recent recording that Paul composed and Kirstin wrote the lyrics for.
