Thunderbird Club

When my dad went to Korea, he said that there were guys who stayed sick for the duration of the trip (which was about two weeks), having never been on a "cruise ship." Thought some of them were going to die. Most walked around with their helmets for those special moments. The navy guys told them to go topside, hang on the rail and stare at the horizon. Seemed to help for many. Nothing helped for some.
Back when I went to sea, I would get a mild headache the first day and be fine after that. Some people used to try to get other people to puke by eating stinky canned fish or smoking cigars near them.

IPA’s done correctly are quite good, the problem is every single shaging microbrewery missed the entire mark on what an ipa is.

it wasn’t about the bitterest hops it was about beer preservation for a long journey.

again disappointed by peepholes interpretation of what is good.

True that- didn’t they get their name because of wanting the beer to last long enough for a trip to India?

HOAs have their place like @GBassNorth said

but if you have 10 cars, a burn barrel, park in your yard, and a stack of axles, then you are frowned upon
My wife would frown on that. It's why there's no engine blocks in the back yard. Who needs a HOA when you have a SO with class and taste? It's a miracle she puts up with me.

I have to say that the watermelon twizzlers Marshall offered me on that Corpus Christi to Galveston cruise about put me over the edge, but then I switched to crackers and managed to not toss my cookies until I got my sea legs-

The boat's exhaust sure didn't help much. There may have been some CO along with the motion that got me.
In early April I’m heading to NZ for a few days. Flying in to Wellington on the North Island and catching the ferry across to Picton on the South Island crossing the Cook Strait. Spending a few days in and around Picton.

A new experience for me, I guess I’ll find out if I get seasick…

I like it a whole lot. He does beautiful work if that's representative.

He was a graduate student in the Painting Dept at SAIC (School of the Art Institute of Chicago) when I was teaching there. I shared a art studio with his father who was the head of the Painting Dept. I knew Sam when he was a little kid. When we both were at SCAI, I played upright in his early band "Shrimp Boat". I saw him perform years ago with Sea & Cake at Bimbo's/SF and a year ago with John McEntire who plays in Tortoise at the Rickshaw Stop/SF. They both were on electronics - lots of blinking lights. It was fab. I hadn't met/spoke with him like forever, so I walked up to him outside after the show and just showed him his painting on my camera. He just smiled! He introduced me to John and another guy as an 'early mentor'. So sweet of him. :)

sam prekop artwork I traded a guitar for that painting! It's called "On Smoky Black Mountain" which was also the title of a Shrimp Boat song.

This is a later Shrimp Boat - I did play this song with them live but never recorded w/them other than a few cassette tapes I still have. Sam turned me on to The Meat Puppets in the mid-'80s for which I am eternally grateful.

Sea & Cake - w/members of Tortoise.
