Thunderbird Club

Wait. You’re a landlubber now? The only other person I know who lived on a boat was my brother during his first two year stint living in Gothenburg. He bought a 28 footer when he got there and stayed on it a lot of the time, although he also had a tiny company issued studio apartment where he stayed when it got too cold.

Years ago, one of our Perkin-Elmer computer techs lived on a boat. By all accounts it was gorgeous and immaculate. He'd spent all his spare time for several years repairing and upgrading and spiffing it up. That part was cool. He had no time for Thunderbirds, which was sad, but I don't even know if he knew.

I’ll arrive noonish Thursday. You, Frank, and Jeff can take me, and whoever else, afternoon drinking. The afternoon we spent together at that cool bar in Capitola is one of my fondest memories. I have no clue how you were able to walk in the shoes you were wearing. Good times!

Those are quite sensible heels, I've worm them to work quite a few times, band shows too.

Here we are, at the corner of Capitola Ave. and California Ave, on our way to see Chuck!

Others will need to chime in about body-shape differences, but I have one of the brown/fuchsia Gibson HSC and I prefer the Epi. It's tapered, lighter to carry and the form-fit is where the protection lives.

My brown Gibson case has a satin fuchsia shroud, some don't have it. It always make me think of a coffin... :)

(I'd best shoot this again with better light.)

So when you hear of my demise, you’ll be on the list of potential buyers. You’ll have to deal with my wife, or worse, my daughter. They’re tough. It ain’t going anywhere before then.

BaCH Thunderbirds are great basses. The Artec pickup they came with was a way to save on cost as the backers of the project realized those who got them would be seeking different tones and would mod accordingly with Thunderbuckers, Lollars, etc. Sadly, there are only 90 of them. Three runs of thirty each. The first run had a more slab-like body (think Epi IV). The second and third runs had a wonderfully contoured body with belly cuts. Some don’t care for the heavy handed looking claw and have changed them. I actually like the “industrial” look of the stock claw.

Bottom line. If anyone here ever sees one come up for sale, buy it. Or at least tell the rest of us if you’re not interested. That are very special.
Great live basses…

Fortunately, my left hand is fine. The arthritis is only in the right fourth and fingers, and that is due to a break forty years ago. As I think you know, I’m wanting an electric fiver now that I’ve realized having the low B is so much fun. And that is all thanks to the Breedlove. The adjustment from 4 to 5 and back has been surprisingly easy. Let me know if you are thinking of passing it along. A USA Gibson with the DeColas would be a perfect fit.

Here is an Epi NR 5 for a good price on GC. Plus its not the usual finish.

So I got busted today. And had a post removed. There is a guy selling a hard to find twenty year old Agi 200 watt all tube amp in the classifieds. I’m interested.

But the guy wants close to 2K for it. As some amp ads frequently state, it was recently gone through and had all the caps replaced without explaining why. So I responded by simply asking why the caps were replaced. The seller’s response was that it is “common” maintenance for a twenty year old amp. Nothing else was said. So I responded with a link, no comment or other text, just the link, with a recent Andy Fields (Agedhorse) thread re cap life and how ridiculous it is to replace caps for no reason. My post was removed. I guess I understand and I probably should not have done that. But my intention was to give potential buyers pause to ask questions before buying.

But. The seller let someone, identify not disclosed, go into the guts of a valuable amp and do who knows what that could cause potential problems. And there were no issues that the seller disclosed that led to replacement. Was I wrong?

I’m not one to take anything with me when I go.
I don’t see the point.
I won’t have much as it is anyway.
I wanna leave as I came in.

If there’s anything at all that I feel someone should have, it’ll be gifted to them.
Those are all important points. I'm just thinking about that ceremonial exit. If there's a big party before the flight, even better.

I know my Beth will outlive me - I have close musician friends who will help sell my collection to help support her. I've already given away a few that are being played.

My PC answer
Clarification on goods to be purchased is acceptable, via PM

anything more than that, send me a PM and we’ll talk. I’ve done the mod thing on other forums and have my own perspective
