I use 10gauge speaker cables, which I know does not translate to a 10 gauge copper path from end to end, but it can’t hurt….

I also spend money on gear foolishly…

This is the best pic I have available, of my other AD200, which is already loaded with some great RCA 12AX7’s and a 12BH7, as well as some Phillips/Sylvania 6550’s. I’m not making any changes to this one. The farthest(tallest) is the 12BH7, the closest 12AX7 is on the same side of the amp as the input and gain knob. So my powers of deduction say the middle tube is the phase splitter(?).

do I see 4 x 6550 like here?..

When I was a kid, BBQ meant grilled with a bunch of sauce on “it”. Now, even though I’m a born and raised Northern Californian, I think I have a better appreciation for BBQ. And it rarely includes any sauce when I do it (so I guess that just means I’m grillin’) but my dad does a good job with some pre-prep and maybe some sauce when doing ribs or chicken.

Same here. Most think putting something over a flame is BBQ. I like BBQ both ways, especially if someone has good sauce. I'm a BBQ snob, but some are worse than me and think sauce is from satan. Pulled pork almost always gets a little. With Brisket and ribs it's a toss up and depends on how good each taste. I love good sauce and will use it when merited.

for the other amp, was the 12BH7 there originally? or was it placed there after the fact?…..something bogus there, phase splitter doesn’t usually get more power output unless it belonged there in the first place….common splitter buffer tube in early SVTs…

No, it had the at7 in it (JJ’s) putting the vintage BH7 in place of the AT made a marked improvement and solved a problem the first amp I brought to him had, and when I brought a second amp he had the same results. And I definitely heard and felt a difference with the first one. I hadn’t actually played through the 2nd one as it was only able to run on 240, so he had it to re-wire to 120, and swap the stock tubes with the USA tubes I had. In the case of the 2nd one, I provided the Phillips/Sylvania 6550’s and RCA 12ax7’s as well as an RCA 12AT7 and RCA12BH7. (The amp in the picture in the previous post is the “2nd” one). Again, the amp performance was improved by using the BH7, and (as I recall), while he found it strange, he did confirm there was enough voltage to use the BH7 there. I wish I knew all the details, but, I can say these both sound amazing and are very strong sounding amps.
