Thunderbird Club

I’d bet there’ll be a lot of discussion on the OT coin toss winner strategy that the niners used.

Possibly some over exaggeration and snake oil in the claims, but at the end of the day the Pure Tone is a much better and more robust design than the typical pinpoint contact jack. For that reason alone it’s the only Jack I use in my builds.

Dang, I should have held out for your club member number…

Very cool! I had no idea Nicholas Cage played guitar. :roflmao:

I’ll disagree with your $700 bass vs a $2k bass theory.;) I have a $300 bass that sounds and plays as good as my $3k bass. Seriously, generally speaking, your point is spot on.

Cost isn’t necessarily an indicator of quality. The best indicator of quality might actually be personal preference, and that is subject to each individuals needs, desires, available choices and application situation.
love that Howard behind the car…1935 Thompson Air Races….:hyper:

No, it had the at7 in it (JJ’s) putting the vintage BH7 in place of the AT made a marked improvement and solved a problem the first amp I brought to him had, and when I brought a second amp he had the same results. And I definitely heard and felt a difference with the first one. I hadn’t actually played through the 2nd one as it was only able to run on 240, so he had it to re-wire to 120, and swap the stock tubes with the USA tubes I had. In the case of the 2nd one, I provided the Phillips/Sylvania 6550’s and RCA 12ax7’s as well as an RCA 12AT7 and RCA12BH7. (The amp in the picture in the previous post is the “2nd” one). Again, the amp performance was improved by using the BH7, and (as I recall), while he found it strange, he did confirm there was enough voltage to use the BH7 there. I wish I knew all the details, but, I can say these both sound amazing and are very strong sounding amps.

That looks like it!

and with Speakon connections I can see the benefit, but with 1/4”, especially to the older single contact tip jacks (ahh, relevant to the discussion), at both the amp and cabinet think the benefit of 10 gauge is lost.
I was referencing the contacts. You’d only need a higher gauge wire for long runs.

@Engle, You are one awesome dude.
My version of a one off, Jeff mod shop TBird is now complete.
Irv not only sent me two stand alone foil versions.
But a fresh TRC with the red foil logo.
Now, as far as that expensive bass vs. not so expensive bass thing.
I’m with @GBassNorth.

Red strings?

I've run out of my EB Wonder Wipes Fret Board Conditioner. I don't really need the "wipe" part as I have plenty of good things here for that. Looking for suggestions you find helpful and good, and that don't have things that ultimately will dry the wood out.
This works really well for me.

Love how that bass came out!

Looks fantastic. Now the carpet matches the curtains. Wait, what?
As Bond said to Tiffany Chase about her red hair (from diamonds are forever) “As long as the cuffs and collar match…”

I just use mineral oil from the pharmacy section of Walmart or Walgreens. $.67 for a 55 gallon drum, and I use it on bamboo cutting boards and I still have 54.75 gallons left over after 10 years.
