Thunderbird Club

This will come as a shock. But I loved her too. And the more recent version from the remake.

Ben Gibbard sure messed up on that one.

None can hold a candle...

for some reason my pre teen imaginary girlfriend was named Marlow.

I like that!

But respectfully suggest that Dundee would be more likely to think of the Aussie Val.

Fun note, in one of the Ozploitation flicks Alvin Purple, the lead character drove a Valiant Charger.

plus for trivia buffs: future Oscar, Emmy and Tony Awards winner Geoffrey Rush was cast in an early 70s Valiant Charger TV ad, driving a Charger.
Beautiful Machine!

Willie Dixon & KoKo Taylor from 1966, later done by The Detroit Cobras. We leaned more toward the original soulful feel/delivery but rock it like the Cobras version. Yes, Robs post-production really supercharged it. We were all sorta' blasé hearing the schools tracks (it was recorded in their recently upgraded pro recording studio by students) but I had a feeling it could sound better. I mean, the performance was good - it just needed a pro like Robert to dial it in.

Oh, and that's our Paul on vocals - we all were smilin' in the sound booth when he delivered that take! Kirstin's co-lead wasn't too shabby either! :)

Here's another from that session - an instrumental by Czech surf/lounge band The Bambi Molesters - Point Break... it needs a bit of tweaking, but it's mostly there.

Good Stuff...never heard the original before and I know a little Willie Dixon.
Sounds like a fun project! I will check out the original!

Excellent! Another reason to come visit more than once! Dave and George have nice setups. We had one in our first house. But we moved, had kids we didn’t want to drink in front of, etc., so my plan for the bar got axed.

Flats smats. They are listing at over 1k now. Go for it. List it as owned and played by famous basste Donnie ___?___. What have you got to lose?
Better yet, "member of the world famous Thunderbird Club."

I thought you just might bring up the Aussie Charger! :D I sure would love for one to turn up here cheap because the guy couldn't drive it.

This is a cool bit of history I just stumbled accross - the 1st recording of "Hey Joe" by its author Billy Roberts from 1961-2. I remember 1st hearing Jimi Hendrix's and The Byrd's up-tempo version in the late '60s and later Nick Caves somber/suspenseful version later still. A song that seemed to resonate enough to be continually resurrected.

JHE version - still the defining version

The Byrds version 1966 -

Love's 1966 version -

The Leaves raucous (nearly punk!) version -

I like Nick Caves version a lot - puts it in the right atmosphere -

And Tim Rose (not sure when... late '60s?)

Otis Taylor sounding a little like Neil...
