Thunderbird Club

The necks on various T-bird models (even within Gibson & Epi independently) varies widely - I have one Epi Goth neck that's baseball-bat thick and yet another that is nice and thin. Overall, my '64 has the perfect neck/nut width I've ever played. Having cut my teeth on my T-bird starting in the mid 70's, I was not drawn to the 70's Fenders as even the 1.5" nut J's seemed fat & slow compared to the bird. 24 fret Peavey B-Quad carbon-fiber necks are the closest to my bird I've played since.

I had that experience with RICs - every one I tried had a telephone pole neck compared to my copy, until one day the mapleglo appeared.

Is that the practice rig?

I'm thinking your neighbors must love you.

You're more likely to get wrong off me for the solid state amp.

Nice looking J, they always look better when the collar and cuffs match - needs a new pickquard but (aka you should have posted a trigger warning for @Sartori).

That's the everything rig T, I've reduced myself to being an apartment player for the time being.

And thanks Rod, it's a killer.

Don't let Kat chide you on the amp, I have the same 700RB, it's anything but tame.

You have a Ric?

Not any more. Sold it in '98 or '99, putting away 'childish things' and all that. Was bass-less from then until 2015. Back in the day I would only play 4001 shaped basses (never managed to get my paws on a 4005).

Fast forward to 'why did I ever give that up?' and 'if I'm getting old I may as well do it disgracefully' and Thunderbirds are the perfect fit.
