Thunderbird Club

I'm completely in lust with it. But, alas, too many toys and projects already. It probably has a big ol' baseball bat neck that I would like a lot, too.

I haven't figured out which two basses I'm bringing to the GTG, the Greco could make the trip, though I doubt the rest of the attendees will notice, unless we plug it in :D

Guess that means I should heave a 360 into the van to plug it into. Logistics might make that a non starter, but an angry 'Bird through the mother of all unnecessarily large and heavy amplifiers would serve notice.

My preferred setting is with the neck pickup all the way up and the bridge pickup rolled off just enough to come out of humbucking. Love the volume boost and more aggressive - throaty! - mids. I prefer to play over the neck pickup, FWIW.
Me too, with the tone at about 4, and the Fuzz at about 3.........and the amp volume on 7, so exhilarating!.

I'm letting "someone else" bring their rig to the GTG, Queen will be wearing the LBD and heels of some sort and don't intend to give anybody a booty shot while unloading an amp out of the Subie.

Oh my.

You're going to have to fend them off with a big stick.

EDIT; ok, bad choice of words.

Hows about a cricket bat.

I would be surprised if there weren't a few rigs there. I'm a little leery of bringing a 360. The last time I had it out at a GTG, it got cranked to an inch of doom, which it will do, and then tweaked around so it sounded all ratted out like a way too much overdriven Ampeg. Which I think sounds awful. Between that and all the other amplifiers in the room, it was earsplitting.

I'm debating what to bring. I think the 2013 EB and 2015 'Bird for comparison purposes might be interesting. Same electronics, but maple and ash vs. mahogany.

As long as the heels are high and the hair is higher, it will be outstanding!

I want to see some vid from this event.

Perhaps some scandalous, compromising pics of Will :roflmao:

I can be an awful flirt, esp. after liquor of some sort.

So I was just enlightened of a T-bird fact I was unaware of. Apparently the Bicentennial ('76-'79) came with sidewinder hum-buckers similar to the EB basses. (neck-huggers/mud-buckers) As the covers look more or less the same as the 60's buckers (other than the additional adjustment screw), it's not obvious. So my question is to those who own/play the Bicentennial birds - what do they sound like compared? I don't know if I've actually heard a sidewinder equipped bird.

Here's an old tb thread that covers the T-bird sidewinders - post #7 is where the info starts and post #9 shows a pic of one. It is also very informative as contrary to popular belief - the T-bird bucker was not a Seth Lover design, but is slightly different (incorporating a bobbin around the poles) and designed by Bill Lawrence. The Fender 70's Tele bass bucker was the Seth Lover design. (no bobbins)

Gibson Thunderbird Pickups?

I love my Epiphone so much! Such a gnarly bass. A lot of people say they won't touch them, but they're seriously missing out on a great tone.
