Thunderbird Club

My nickname in Junior High and HS was TA and when TJ Hooker was on TV my nick name became and still is TA Hooker! I wish I would’ve used it here!

You can request a name change :)

Not cheap, but nowhere near lull Territory. I just configured one for just under 3k after everything. Lulls are starting around 5700
I didn’t realize new Lulls were that much now. If he’ll even do a new one. I configured one on the World-Peace (a reason in and of itself to consider getting one) website awhile back to be what I would want and it came to around $3200. I don’t recall if that included shipping to here and import duties. Either way, too rich for my blood at this point in time. But they do look really nice. Certainly something to consider for a Thunderbird made exactly how one wants it.

They are what Maruszczyk usually installs in their semi-custom Tbird clone called the Phoenix. They are not inexpensive. Once you configure what you want, add import duties, you’re in Lull territory. But they are reportedly nice sounding pickups. I’ve never heard them or know anyone with one. Maybe Rob @Basvarken has some insight.
Maruszczyk Instruments - From Player To Player - Phoenix

Häussel has a good reputation. I have not heard their Thunderbird humbucker yet. But I'm planning to try them one of these days.

Georgie Porgie, (pudding pie), Georgie Girl (after the song came out in '67) and Kitta-cat. (all grade school) Didn't follow me into HS luckily.

That was great Geo. Obviously a song that I’ve heard (1,000’s of times) but still like. I was about 5 when it came out and I guess in the first year of school. My parents were a bit older for the times, and the only* “Pop” music they owned was The Seekers Greatest Hits. The breakup concert in Melbourne was telecast live into Sydney (I assume all Australia) and the whole family was sat in front of the TV to watch.

That “story of” clip was very good, especially cutting into the song from different eras of them singing it.

Have your bands played it? We tried it (we did a few Seekers songs) and found it surprisingly difficult with the timing and the stop before the extra vocal line in a few places, and the ending as well.
I wish we would have persevered.

* there were only a few records in total. Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby. I think James Last came into the house later on. Mind you, in Dad’s older age he liked Dr Hook!

My last name is Gull..... So I also got Gilligan in 7th gr and below. That was always fun....:rollno: HS it would have been fightin' words so it wasn't a problem there.
At school I got Geoffa which morphed into Zephyr.
Later on I got Schooner Eyes which settled into Schooners. (I didn’t mind as that is the beer glass size I prefer).
I also got The Bat from a different group of friends.

I've never played a Marusczyk but I've heard great things. They have a demo P Body with TBird pickups on reverb for 1100 and change of I remember correctly.

I absolutely love my Lull. Plays great and sounds better. I would personally opt for a more individually adjustable bridge as opposed to the two point if I were having it custom built. But I'd have a real hard time paying that much for one. I paid less than half of that for mine back in August and I wasn't completely sold on dropping that kind of change even. I just happened to get a GREAT DEAL on two basses that I traded for a Sandberg and a Sadowsky (which I still sorely miss, it was a 7lb 5string metro). I sold both of those cheap and used the money for the Lull. My initial investment was right at $1k for both.

My letter jacket was purple in high school. I wore a green t shirt underneath it one time and was henceforth dubbed, "Barney."

I recall watching the Jackie Gleason Show every week when I was young. My parents loved him. I was mesmerized by the June Taylor dancers.
I would often sit on my Grandpa's lap and watch it. I would mimic JG drinking his coffee and saying "Ah, How sweet it is." I was also enamored by the Miami Palm Trees swaying. I was easily entertained.

Those Lulls sound great though. I had brought a P and my Lull Bird for our last album’s bass tracks. Ended up using the Lull on the entire album.

Forth? Man. Congratulations!

The ‘15 is one of the best ever released. A tone chaser. Lots of magic in the pickups. And the build quality on mine is truly exceptional. Best bass I own. Hard to believe I paid $999.99 for it new.

I just looked those up. They make a bass that's essentially a D-Bird. Hmmmm... And the one on their website is orange, like Veronica's sublime Lull. More Hmmmm....
