Thunderbird Club

but those one can follow with the ear as they are so familiar to us…..to put things in perspective "desafinado" literally means out of tune in portuguese….
Yep. Thus its English title, "Slightly Out of Tune". We used to do a ship(sp?) load of bossas/sambas/merengues/whatever on a gig at a Hallandale Beach alta kaker hotel. They couldn't actually do any of the dances, but they liked the 'feel'.

One Note Samba is a lotta fun. We did some substitutions on it that made it pretty interesting. Then there's the bridge. Like a whole 'nuther song.
EDIT1-I could very happily do a whole night of jazz standards and Latins.
EDIT2-Again.

by Gulfstream?… used to live off the intracoastal..
It was on the beach, just north of H.B.Blvd. "Sun Spa". No longer there. It was an older hotel, only three stories high. Owners sold the property; buildings demolished. I believe the "New Diplomat" was built where it was.

Hi guys! :)

Sorry I've been out for a while! Been lots of work & non-work time-sink stuff going on lately eating up all my time

Let me know if I missed anything important?

I figured I'd just skip ahead a bit....
While you were away, PillO returned. Now we have both of you back. Good to see you my friend.

Hey, welcome back! We have missed you. Nah, you haven't missed anything that you wouldn't recognize from our usual digressions.

I had a Puerto Rican friend/kinda girlfriend in college. She used to take me salsa dancing. She and all her friends thought it was hilarious to see the boy from rural Ohio try to salsa. I didn't mind at all, because it usually ended well.

@JIO moves up the enabler list.

Ah.... Both, maybe?

About cheating and not going full Thunderbird. I will say when I tried both in a shop once, those two sounded different. May have been the strings, but the Embassy was darker than the VP I tried. One off situation? Maybe. I've never been any place to try both again. But I will say look around for a used VP. As mentioned, GC will often sell them crazy low--likely not knowing what they are. I got my burst on a tip from Ken for $399.
IIRC, the Newport is darker than the Embassy. A great sound, but covered by my EB-0

cool open mic hosted by JMB last night….an absolutely stunning (over 6') brazilian beauty requested to sing "Girl from Ipanema" which to everyone's surprise we performed (never played it in F# so I had to keep my eyes on Becca's fingerboard for the bridge part) flawlessly….boyfriend threw a C-note into the tip jar….fun jam…:bassist:
