I'm skipping ahead due to being out of town for the weekend. Let me know if everyone sold their neckdivers and this is the Fender Club now.

Went to Lucas Oil Stadium (Indy, where the Colts play), to see Chris Stapleton, in particular. All headliners. The lineup was Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, respectively. Strait is still a big deal in Country. So much so he can get another headliner like CS to open. J.T. was kind enough to get Sandra and I floor seats. He offered to try to get us tickets and we just figured they would be way up someplace. When we went to will call to pick them up we were shocked to see floor seats. We had hoped to meet up if possible but they flew in and back out and we couldn't connect. What a great dude. Proud to be from the same state. When thanking him I mentioned it was the first time I've seen a Thunderbird in person on a big stage since Leon Wilkeson.

The place wasn't full until CS was about to play. I'm guessing sold out or close enough to it. CS and band put on a fantastic show. All about the music. Dude can sing. So soulful and powerful. The whole stadium was rockin and into it. Everyone knows I've always been more rock and blues (and some bluegrass) background, but Stapleton and band were as good as it gets. No wonder many of their shows through the year being the headliner are already sold out. If you get a chance to see them you won't be disappointed. We were sad when they finished and could have listened for the rest of the evening.

Not sure what those go for but I got my white Epi VP from guitar center used, shipped to my local store for $346. They often seem to under-price stuff. I think someone posted a pic of a black one at a GC for like $440 earlier this weekend.

I bought an Embassy last year to give my '67 NR T-Bird a rest-and protect it from a venue or two that are questionable safety wise. Very happy with the Embassy.

I bought an Embassy last year to give my '67 NR T-Bird a rest-and protect it from a venue or two that are questionable safety wise. Very happy with the Embassy.

Just today, on my way to a concert where I used my semi-hollow Ibby(I'm emulating an upright in an orchestra), I got to thinking about possibly replacing the weak/worn out/NFG bridge pup on the 67 NR with a PRO760*.
Maybe.
*EDIT: apparently not easy to find. Oh, well. No rush. I'm still 'mufunzalo".

I've seen base model Epis around $200 on FB marketplace.

Yeah, around here they probably average 350-400 asking price. No idea what they go for. I do occasionally see one for 225-275.

Nice setup!! I have an MTI SVT and it sounds killer! It just isn't as pretty as yours. Also have the GK700RB and really like it as well. Both good amps!!

I'm seriously all set for amp GAS. I played this setup yesterday and aside from the occasional clam, lol, I was able to just concentrate on the music. And yessir, the GK is a slayer too.
Friday night with the original band's first gig, the SVT made a nasty noise, and I immediately plugged in the 700RB. Through the Ampeg 410 it was beautiful.
Yesterday's gig the SVT was perfect. So it's going in for a checkup.
Anyway, yes, I'm all settled on amps. Now I can pay attention to my next bass.

I got my CP off the wall at the local GC for $250. Keep a weather eye out, things come around.

I've noticed my Greco Thunderbirds[0] respond differently to my fingers[1] than my others - and for that matter than any other guitar or bass I can recall playing[2]. On most guitars/basses, as you move your plucking fingers from the bridge to the pickup regions to the lower end of the fretboard, the tone gets mellower and is most mellow near the 12th fret. On my Grecos, I can easily get more aggressive sounds playing over the fretboard. Has anyone noticed anything similar?

[0] Both sporting EBCFs, but so do my IV (whether strung EADG or BEAD), my CP, and my VP, and so did my PRO V. All but the BEAD IV are DGCF. FWIW. YMMV. IANAL.[1]

[2] I didn't pay attention to that at the GTG or at Veronica's, which is where I Played most of the other Thunderbirds, but I have experienced this on a few 7SOs, and numerous guitars.

About cheating and not going full Thunderbird. I will say when I tried both in a shop once, those two sounded different. May have been the strings, but the Embassy was darker than the VP I tried. One off situation? Maybe. I've never been any place to try both again. But I will say look around for a used VP. As mentioned, GC will often sell them crazy low--likely not knowing what they are. I got my burst on a tip from Ken for $399.
