Plan was October of this year. Certain economic factors have altered that.
I got home from last summer’s GTG and the wife asked why my friends didn’t sign my ankle cast.
Each pup is a narrow spaced split blade P. They come in various windings.
Here’s a peek under the hood…
If I could find a dirt cheap DRoc suitable for modding I’d drop two more pickups in the beast for a five pup bird.
The first two albums are T-Bird only and it's on almost every subsequent album he played on. The one exception is probably the 1997 "Cheap Trick" album which has the basses listed for every track and in addition to his Chandler 12-string he uses a Fender Telecaster and Hofner 4-strings.
Just listened to the 1977 live recording "Out To Get You!" recorded at the Whisky, LA and it's pure Thunderbird too.

About last night:
The other day I was approached by Jimi Crutchley (Quireboys) regarding the Brooks Fenderbird I had built.
He is on a world tour as tour manager with Glenn Hughes. And yesterday the caravan visited De Boerderij in Zoetermeer for Glenn's Deep Purple show. Which is only an hours drive from where I live.
Jimi invited me to the soundcheck to put the Brooks Fenderbird through its paces, over Glenn's bass system.
Jimi turns out to be a huge John Entwistle fanatic. And for years he had been looking for a good Fenderbird like the one Peter Cook built for John Entwistle. He had previously bought one from another builder, but that one was very disappointing.
Jimi is very happy that he has finally found a good Fenderbird!

Early to mid seventies it was him, Overend Watts, Martin Turner, Killer Kane, the Ox, Jackie Fox and Leon Wilkerson carrying the Tbird banner. And Suzy with her Greco.

I won't retire. I love what I do and I think I bring some value to society. But there will come a time when I reduce to part-time (i.e. serve of Boards of Directors).
Looks great. Love the color. On top of that, the Epi 64's, etc, sound fantastic like a Thunderbird should.
Now you know full well Gibson lacks the imagination to do great things like that.

I like what I do--as frustrating as it is at times (seems like that whole Sisyphus thing sometimes), but don't want to retire. Hopefully the same reason you mentioned is a relevant factor. I can't imagine getting up every day and not having to accomplish something other than chores and hobbies. At least not yet, but I am thinking about it more than I did a couple of years ago. I might love it, but don't want to regret a decision. I think you have to get to the point you know that's what you want so there will be no regrets.
Easy, and obvious answer. Everyone was way too enamored with Thunderbird euphoria that was present to notice there was a cast until looking at the pics later.
