As a teenager I loved Marilyn Manson, Twiggy and his T-Bird inspired me to play bass. Then in my twenty's The Kings of Leon were incredible, with a T-Bird right there on stage. Now… I cannot recall seeing a Thunderbird in the wild.

Depends on your definition of contemporary. SSPU have been around about twenty years now. They're currently on tour. Nikki is my favorite Thunderbird player.

You do have a point. But I'm so used to my CD collection going from Abercrombie to ZZ Top.
Vinyls from Absoluuttinen Nollapiste to ZZ Top.
And you don't expect me to start shuffling *that* to make room to the upper left corner for all my 801 and 10CC stuff do you?

I watched the mountain portion of the Terr Duh Franse last year. Dude who won that stage was a mountain biker. The way he took the downhill portions was amazing. Nobody was close.

Looked him up: Tom Pidcock. He's an Olympian in mountain biking.

Fast forward to a couple of years back, when I decided to check if my old HiFi is till working, and yes it was. And sounded good. So I then decided to start to buy music again. Wanted back all my old music. But as I don't have the money to buy the collection back as vinyls, I decided to go with CD:s. Now I have managed to get hold on the main part of my old collection, and many more. And there is more to come, constantly looking for new used CD:s.

I'd love to visit you guys. My maternal grandfather was born in Sweden and I've always want to go there and to Finland.

The plan was to retire this October. But I need to work a couple more years. Which I'll do. Begrudgingly. Last Friday, I Johnny paychecked from a horrible employer that recruited me with promises and lies out of another job I also couldn't stand.

So I'm starting a new gig with a former employer in three weeks that I ran an office for from 2000 to 2010. I only left that job because the company closed the office and I didn't want to relocate (I should have, one of the places was Seattle). Now I'll be doing the local legal work for that company out of my home. It'll be a steady paycheck, if nothing else.

Don't discount being able to work from home. My previous job I worked two days from home. When I took the promotion to my current gig I get to work four days from home. At current gas prices, that's a defacto raise. Now I fill the tank about every 8 to 10 days instead of every five to six days, and I'm saving the wear and tear on my ol' car too. It's a bit of an adjustment but I'm gonna stick in this job for a while...as long as my supervisor and director don't retire and leave me.

I kept all my vinyl. I have only bought a few since 1988 when I started buying CDs. These days I mostly listen to Spotify and only buy special releases from time to time. Mostly because I'm concerned about having enough room for everything when we move.

I like the shelves. Did you build them from scratch or are they from IKEA or a similar company?

I'm used to it by now. Although I miss the camaraderie once in awhile. I've worked remotely full time since February of '20 when everything shut down. The new gig has an office I can go to in Glendale, which is about 100 miles from my main home and 80 miles from the mountain place. I don't think I'll be going there unless I have something going on in L.A. I am getting an access card for the building and parking lot though.

I can focus my opinion (remember, it's my opinion and everyone has their own) point with '80s James Bond soundtrack songs - with Bond Girl, we have been very selective. As an example when I first joined BG 10 yrs ago, the band was learning "View to a Kill" - what we learned in our attempt is that is was a pretty poorly written song. (never made it to a live show) Bond soundtracks had a solid history of having really good classical pop songs and at a certain point that legacy suffered because of era-specific choices. Shenna Eastman's ('81) "For Your Eyes Only" was the transition - a good song well sung.., but as sappy as you got then. Next was Rita Coolige's "All Time High" ('83) ... schmaltz-ville. Next was Duran Durans aforementioned song ('85).., then A-ha's "The Living Daylights" ('87 - totally forgettable) followed by ('89) "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight which helps save the franchise songs' being sung by a legendary singer.

The '90s & '2000s had mostly* ok theme songs and we play a number of them, but in retrospect I personally feel the '80 offered the weakest Bond movie theme-songs of the bunch and we don't play any of them except 1981's "For Your Eyes Only".
