I agree, or a doubling of a guitar-line... [2:22 - 2:30]
I get that some don't think they look good. Kind of love it or hate it thing. Me, I like the look but get that most likely don't.get what? I’d LOVE one of those….
It’s a Savannah Thunderbird Bass Ukulele. I think they are discontinued now but very occasionally pop up in the used market. I’ve been looking for one for a couple of years now and just ran across it on Reverb.Who builds that?
I bought a Goldtone bass uke about 10 years ago. I took it to one rehearsal and returned it the next day.
Yeah I noticed those chords! I have the drop D for the Bryan Adams tunes anyway, and I found the low sounded more like the record on those little breaks. But your approach totally works.I did try this with my Epi VP in dropped "D", it was ok-ish, not great, the band didn't notice at all - no surprise there!
The bass on the original recording is a keyboard so the low "D" isn't too mushy or ill defined. For TNH I choose to play the standard "D" and really drive the song, again, the band doesn't know what I'm actually doing, but for me it serves the song a bit better. At the two quiet breaks and the bright part a little way in I do play a "D" chord instead of a single note to give it a little more width at that point. Closest thing to a solo that I get.

The way the rubber strings roll under my fretting hand bothers me. And you can't dig in at all on those strings. It's light touch only.
I think there are different stringsavailable now, so I thought about getting a set for the one I won in the raffle at last year's GTG. To this point it's just been hanging on the wall.
great pic!!White Thunderbirds..............
