I got it only about a year ago. I'm not a very big Wakeman solo artist fan but this has some great tunes and amazing playing. My fav is "Anne of Cleves" on which Dave Wintour just kills on bass helped by Alan White killing it on drums.



Well, Wetton was a hunk. All Crimson bass players were. Lake, Boz, Wetton, Levin.

My thing is if I already have the pedal version of the microtubes why not get the AO for something different and if I want the B7K sound I’ll run the pedal with it.
I don’t know what LnM’s returns are like for used stuff.

Either way I gotta sell some stuff before I get to that point, I just ordered a new(ish) bass I have to pay for first

I think L&M will be OK with a used return.

I turned my 3 slot Hercules into a 5 slot. I should be able to turn this 5 slot into an 8!

Much as I love to sing, I'm not really very good at it, though I do practice at home a bit while playing. There are a lot of songs that I just can't seem to do both with though, especially if the bass parts require some concentration. Then I feel like I can't walk and chew gum at the same time.......
Still, I love being able to actually contribute some vocal bits to a song, strange really as I'm mostly a quiet, kind of shy person.

No one wants to hear me sing. There is a reason my “signature” song back in the day was Monster Mash. But I try to sing harmonies when I’m in the shed. I think I could pull it off, depending on the key. One reason Meisner is one of my favorites is because his singing was so great.

Lower octave unison harmonies are usually pretty easy to pull off and sound nice.

Yeah my Carbine can be like that. I just crank the gain and put the master at the lowest possible setting. I would love a Prodigy.

A prodigy would’ve been the smarter way to go for my uses… but I never claimed to be smart.

For sure - with The Sean Conneries we (Kirstin, Paul & I) all sing, me mostly background although we are working on one that I sing lead. For years Cherie (Bond Girl) was opposed to Paul & I singing background, but these days we do it effectively which gives the song (and the band) more depth. Nothing fancy - just sing in tune and not too close to the mic!

100% agree. I've landed several gigs because of my ability/willingness to sing harmonies.

One thing I've learned is to crank my vocals in my mix and adjust my projection/proximity to blend it with the lead in my mix. That gives FOH a blendable signal to use as they see fit without me overwhelming the singer. I have a rather loud voice and am not skilled enough to have much range singing softly. When I'm moving some air though...

Can you explain the logic behind the multiple ground points on the shielding tape?

I know it's not a functional issue for the string path to flare out or in between the tailpiece and bridge. It's just a visual detail I can't unsee, so I won't install a tailpiece wider than the bridge.

I did the opposite on a guitar I put together for our guitarist Paul - original string-stop toed-in the strings which didn't jive w/Paul, so I fabbed one of aluminum that spaced the strings wider.

before: original toed-in string-stop & 'stripped' finish - I liked it but Paul eventually wanted a finish. Late '60s Harmony body/mid '80s Harmony neck - all the rest I sourced and installed. (and cut the pg) I lucked out finding the vintage whammy bridge - same as the one that came on it. Gold-foil pu's are new/retro.

after: minor difference but it "kept Paul sweet" as my British friend used to say. I love looking over and seeing/hearing him play it. I like the finish also. Paul modded the electronics harness between pics.

Well, Wetton was a hunk. All Crimson bass players were. Lake, Boz, Wetton, Levin.

Alan White, RIP, was the glue that kept YES going when Bruford checked out. One of the most underrated drummers ever. His work with Lennon was fabulous. Nothing beats this iconic piece.

That's star-grounding. Each cavity space (pu's, pu switch & control-cavity) each have their own ground to the jack. The pu's are also grounded to that 'loop'.
