once saw a fretless with one upper most (closest to bridge) fret that was there for the fretted effect while slapping....worked remarkably well...

Nice looking amps he's got there as well.
I'm not certain why it doesn't. My guess would be that I don't think of individual notes, but more of 'patterns'.
So, for example, if we do "Ain't Too Proud" in Bb, where I play Bb[E string]-D-F[A string](1/4-2 1/8ths)/ Eb[A string]-G-Bb[D string](same pattern); I just move it up a step-or in this case, a string: C[A string]-E-G[D string]/F[D string]A-C[G string]. Same fretting hand positions, just on different strings. This method has always worked for me-except if my mind wanders too much and I forget where we are in a song.Or, a coupla times, wuttinnahell song we're playing.
Yeah, I try to go with patterns, and am slowly transitioning to Nashville Notation wherever possible, since it's pattern-based.
Yeah, crawling youtube with them now.
I've seen examples of that. It's kinda cool, but because I hafta read regular notation-a lot-I think it would just make me more confozzled.

Is it worth upgrading this VP to CTS pots? I would love a no load tone pot too.

Same. I had not heard them before now.
Not sure CTS is an upgrade from Korean made pots. Though I did have 2 of the original pots on my VP go bad. I replaced them with Alpha, which is Korean. Don’t think you can go wrong with CTS.

Ashdown amps are geared to an 'old-school' tube-y sound. They have twin-tube pre-amps but ss power circuits, so they sound very warm and vintage-y. Perfect for Dub-step.

Unless there's a problem, I wouldn't bother.
Don’t fix what ain’t broke as they say, or something like that.
But if you really wanna experiment and go crazy……..
There’s also linear vs. audio to consider.
I’d look at Noll, Bourns.
And replace the output jack with a Pure Tone.
I’m slowly backing away now.

As are all T-birds unless the one with a P-pu. (then 250k)
I mean, if you bumped up to 1M pots you might get a slight bit more brightness out of it.

Pots and caps will alter the sound, subtly. It's the point of rotary switches on an Epi Cassidy bass; it offers tonal options with the flick of a switch.
I've looked at that a few times and seemed more complicated than just normal changing the key. And I like patterns an shapes when playing, but using that just seemed more like more work. Could be just grey cells farting out on my part.
