Thunderbird Club

Interesting. Yeah, I certainly get the love for the NR shape. I'm not so sure I don't prefer it as well. But the reverse feels like it was made for me. I've never played an '60s NR. Never even seen one in person to play AFAIK.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw a '60s Reverse either, other than the one I bought.
can you pleeeaase come to a GTG?

It’s not twosday, it’s threesday.

Remind me to tell you about a great Italian place where I came really close to choking to death. Another patron Heimliched me. It was very embarrassing.
once knew someone who stuttered badly and made the stupid bet that he could swallow a meatball whole…..needless to say, when it got stuck he started making these funny noises but since he stuttered no one (tough Mass VFW crowd) thought anything of it until I noticed he was turning pale and told another member who was a nurse who Heimliched him…..that procedure works remarkably well…… the meatball ended up on a pool table……. dude didn’t show his face around there for months afterwards……

:drool::drool::drool:
yeah I know he can’t stand this one either…….would love a pic of both together…..:woot:

Since you're winging in to the Jet City I'll figure that you're traveling light, next year in Hollister the two lost twins can have a picture together!

The ThunderCaster - if Fender could build a Tbird here’s what would it look like
IMG_3138.jpeg

note: every part used on this bass is from a Fender Telecaster except the body and pickguard, speaking of which - there’s a nod to Fender in the about facing bird logo on the pickguard (design concept by me, but Irv brought it to life).

And The 1966 NR Tribute Tbird with pickups in the proper vintage locations but hot rodded with a Wenge/Wenge neck and a master vol, vol/tone, vol/tone control layout. Finished in Gibson Golden Mist Polly (same as Fender Shoreline Gold Metallic) complete with a ‘66 badge on the bird.

Wow! They both came out fantastic, George! Love the Gold Mist Metallic!!!

Nice interview with J.T. Gets into some Thunderbird talk along the way. He mentioned it here so I'm assuming it's not a secret anymore, but Gibson is working on a '64 Reissue Thunderbird. J.T. mentioned last year that he went to Gibson and played the prototype and was impressed. Might turn out to the best Thunderbird Gibson has made since the 60s. Time will tell. I'm sure it's going to be pricey, but hopefully worth it.

It's going to be in Ciny this year, right? :DI would certainly love to. I don't see how it's possible this year. With my mother living with us (who's not it great health), we can't be gone too long. More than a day away and things can get complicated. I would also have to start drinking again to ride in a tube with rude people that long! And my wife would want to come. Which is a good thing for me.

Had a neighbor several yrs older than me who stuttered. It's not a funny thing, but when he got to fighting with his dad (also not a funny thing) and started cussing it was like a Richard Pryor movie. You couldn't stop laughing.

Gibson can make that bass at any time, realistically they're probably going to stick with the Non Reverse for awhile ( the standard one isn't being made presently) and offer a "Re-Issue" at some point.

This one uses the standard body with one pickup rout and a two point, made in 2023.
